This is a 1928 Dodge pick up that is more than a head turner. It's a neck snapper. Park it anywhere and it draws a crowd. Kids instantly fall in love with it and are convinced it was used as a model for a Hot Wheels car. It's built as a cruiser, and it's perfect for that purpose. It's a whole lot more of a ride than you'd want to use as a driver. The wildest part is the 392 Hemi. It's not just another hot rod with a small block Chevy in it. It has a clean California title as a 1928 Dodge and is registered up to March, 2020. It really is a show stopper.
THE BODY: 1928 Dodge cab with custom fabricated bed. Firewall and grill are custom fabricated from polished aluminum. All glass is great. No serious dings on it. Paint is maroon with a very few small chips here and there. I kind of suspect that it's powder coated. The bed contains a 12 gallon aluminum fuel tank and the battery, which is less than a year old. It's good enough that it took awards in every show it's been entered in.
THE INTERIOR: All custom. Bench seat, door panels, and headliner are all classic black tuck and roll in excellent shape. Instruments include, GPS speedometer, tach, temp gauge, oil pressure, and fuel level and all are perfectly functional. It's set up for turn signals, but they aren't wired in. Headlights, tail lights and brake lights are all working. Black rugs on floor, again, in excellent shape.
THE ENGINE: 1957 392 Chrysler Hemi out of a 1957 Imperial. I was told it had an mild cam when I purchased it, but that's just what I was told. The idle's a bit rough, so I'm inclined to think it's probably true. Ignition is a Mallory Uni-Lite feeding the spark plugs through Carol cables. Intake is a Weiand 7263 dual quad wearing 2 Edelbrock 1404 carbs @ 500 cfm with progressive linkage. That combo makes it really street friendly. The rear carb (primary) has been converted to electric choke. Topping the intake, is a birdcage scoop (I believe it's a Weiand) with linkage properly hooking it up to the carbs. The radiator is an unknown that has been cleaned and has no leaks. Topping the heads are a pair of early Donovan cast aluminum valve covers with two Donovan breathers on each side. Donovan valve covers are over $1,200 new including the breathers. The Headers are custom made and feed into side pipes that terminate in side pipes with 36” Cherry Bomb mufflers on them. The starter is a brand new hi torque mini that has no problem cranking it over. The engine doesn't burn any oil and puts awesome power to the asphalt.
THE TRANSMISSION: Three speed MOPAR 727 from the mid-60's. It was rebuilt and beefed less than 100 miles ago. Kickdown is through a Lokar cable set up and works perfectly. Torque converter was also rebuilt at that time and locks in at about 2500 rpm. Low weight, low load! The body is modified to allow manual shifting, and shifting under heavy throttle is about instantaneous. Custom built drive shaft has new U-joints and new slip yoke. No leaks! Shaft was built by Inland Empire Driveline of Corona, Ca..
THE RUNNING GEAR: Fully boxed frame from an unknown donor. Solid as a rock. Shocks with chromed coilovers on rear axle. Rear end is a MOPAR 8 ¾” that I believe has 4:23 gears. Unknown front disk brakes and big rear drums have no problem stopping it. Tires are 33x19.5x15 DOT street approved Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's on rear (13 ½” tread width) . Front tires are 2.15/70x15's and all rubber is good. Wheels are correct width for tires and all four feature beauty rims and baby moon hub caps.
It's been entered in two car shows and won awards in both. The first was “Best of Class,” and the second was “Special Interest Vehicle.” the very last picture shows them.

Here's stuff you need to know. The username I'm listing this through is one I usually use for “low budget” items. My main username is classichotrodparts. I have over 3300 sales and almost 2400 feedbacks. I have a reputation for being honest and upfront and using this username isn't going to change that. It's simply easier and cheaper for me to list it on this username. I'm 78 years old and I have a hard time remembering that I'm not 25 (Or 40 or 50) years old anymore. I fell in love with this pick up the first time I saw it and to be honest, I bit off more than I could chew. Working on wiring under the dash puts me out of business for about three days. Here's everything I can tell you about the car.
I have no idea of who originally built it, when it was built, or where it was built. It was first registered in California in 2016 and shows no previous registration. The title is clean and the tags are good until May 2020. I am the 4th owner. As far as I can tell, I'm the only one who's actually worked on turning it into what it is today. I would guess from the lack of rust on it, that it was a southwest car. Whoever built it was a good welder and it was pretty well thought out. No matter what, it's an E Ticket ride. It's good for about a 100-200 mile round trip. It too rough to travel cross country in and is noisy and rattly as any radical hot rod should be . Like I said at the beginning, it's a cruiser and as it sits, It's not a race car, but it really is a kick to drive.
Here are the things that I feel still need to be done to make it 100%. Turn signals need to be wired in. The turn signal switch is already mounted. An electric windshield wiper motor is installed but needs to be wired in. I've installed 3 fuse panels in it (One hot, one switched) and a ground strip so that should make the wiring a bit easier. The doors are a bit out of alignment and should be corrected. It also needs seatbelts.
That's about it. If you want a ride that will awe people and is a real kick to drive, this is it. If you have any questions, contact me.
