Description

1937 Dodge D7 Coupe

Runs beautifully
Comprehensive restoration
Ex- Jim Rogers collection

Here up for bids is this outstanding Dodge business coupe. This car was part of the Jim Rogers collection in Las Vegas. The late Jim Rogers amassed a collection of over 200 cars, they were auctioned to benefit his charitable foundation by Mecum in February of 2015 (link). This car was held back and not part of the auction, instead it was given as a parting gift to the museum's curator who shared a common bond with Jim Rogers - both of their fathers had owned a 1937 Dodge Business Coupe! This Dodge is an quality older restoration that has aged well, it runs and drives excellent and is ready for its next chapter in life.

Finished in "Bronze Poly (metallic)", the car has nice paint over an excellent body. The paint has a few small touched up scrapes here and there but overall stands tall and looks sharp. Panel fit is all very good with uniform gaps. The body on this old Dodge is excellent, with all original sheet metal, no patching, no dents or dings and zero rust issues, undercarriage included.
All 5 tires were replaced with Coker Classics, all of them in great shape.

Straight and clean grill assembly, hood ornament and headlights. Bumpers show good chrome with only a few light scuffs.

Nice lines from every angle.

Very good glass, all original except for the windshield, it was replaced in the restoration and is crystal clear. 1937 was the last year for the tilt-out windshield, it's very effective at cooling down the interior, the Pre-War version of A/C.

Running boards are in good shape. Business coupes are known for their huge trunks and this car is no exception.

Nicely redone interior with all new materials.

All gauges are functional except for the gas gauge, the car will be delivered with a full tank. Horn and wipers work, heater is present but not hooked up.

Very nice headliner. Area behind the seat contains the spare on a matching, unused Coker tire.

This Dodge starts instantly on the button and runs beautifully. I've driven a lot of pre-war Mopars and this is one of the best I've had. It has a whisper-quiet idle, perfect throttle response, and a good amount of power. The brakes were all gone through with new parts but on hard braking it tends to pull to the left. The car moves through the gears smoothly, runs cool and doesn't smoke or leak. A very nice driving car.

While not detailed, the beauty of this undercarriage lies in its fidelity. All original sheet metal with no patching or rust issues, just a super example of a 79 year old Mopar business coupe.
