Description

1968 Dodge Dart GTS 340
Up for auction is this 1 owner local garage find real 340 GTS. It even comes with the original title. The odometer shows 87k which appears to be correct to the best of my knowledge. It is all original with its 100% original drivetrain. It has a 727 torquflite and 3.23 rear w/o sure grip. The motor starts right up and sounds good if you poor gas down the carb without ticking smoking or anything. The original radiator has been redone and oil changed. The gas tank has 30 year old gas still in it so I would clean it or just replace it to be safe. The trans goes into gear but I have not driven it since the brake pedal goes to the floor. So please dont ask if you can drive it home . The answer is no. Being from the midwest it has its share of rust but as ugly as it is is much better than most. Unfortunately the fender tag rusted almost away. I have not pulled seats to see if the broadcast sheet is there so hopefully it is. The floors, rails, and trunk are much better than most and are very solid. The car luckily was undercoated when new which really helped save the under carriage, All of the GTS only badges and emblems are in place except it appears the left front fender was replaced at 1 time. The car is complete with the only things I see missing are the ashtray, half of the exhaust, hub caps, trunk lock, and some of the jack pieces. This car is really worthy of a full restoration being as correct as it is. I hope someone has the time and love for this car it deserves. I have 3 cars ahead of it and I know I wont be able to touch it anytime soon so I am willing to pass it on for a fair price. As you can see in the pictures I have not even washed the car. Im leaving it as I bought it for the person who buys it to do. Im only listing this car once. If it doesnt sell Im putting it away until I have time for it. If you have any questions or if you would like to set up a time to see it in person feel free to call me at 815 954 7501. We are a licensed shipping company and can ship the car anywhere in the lower 48 states for a reasonable amount of money at the buyers expense. The car is sold as is as shown. $500 deposit due at end of auction and balance due within 7 days of auctions end PERIOD.

I would like to answer some of the questions Im being asked numerous times.

Yes the car still has its original X heads, dual point distributor, intak, car, exhaust manifolds, original radiator has been redone not replaced, all 5 original wide wheels. drum brakes not disc, the floor boards in the car are solid, the lights, hor, and wipers all still work, It sounds like a bone stock 340 w/ half of its exhaust missing, With no brakes I have not been able to drive it to see if the transmission indeeds shifts through all of the gears, All of the glass is in great condition, the inserts in hood are original and in excellent condition without pits. roof is solid as a rock as well as hood and trunk lid. Yes the car needs quarter panels and wheel houses for sure as well as other metal replaced. NO Iwont trade for another projectcar considering in my opinion this is the perfect project car and last but not least I will end auction at anytime for a local sale.
