Now more about the car's history and provenance. This car was the giveaway car at the 2001 Chrysler's at Carlisle car show held in July 2001. Each year they give away a car and this Shelby was the one chosen in 2001. I have a large envelope with lots of paperwork documenting the event including a show program with a nice article about the car. There is also a plastic license plate that says GIVEAWAY on it. When the car was given away it had about 4,900 miles. I believe I am the 4th owner. The person who originally won the car drove it for a short time. They then traded it in at a dealership in Pennsylvania. The person I purchased the car from bought it from that dealership.
The other thing that makes this Shelby Charger very unique is that it was accepted and entered in the 2005 Concours D'Elegance at Ault Park in Cincinnati, Ohio in June 2005. The featured marque in 2005 was Shelby and this car was entered in the Shelby "Other" class. I have documentation from the event. The car won a first place award in it's class. I'm not 100% sure, but it is possible that it maybe the only L-Body Shelby Charger to have competed and won at a Concours D'Elegance event. If you visit the following link you can see a pic of the car on the show field.
This car is in great shape. There is a small ding on the top of the front left fender, which was there when I bought the car. Car has some very minor rock chips in paint from road debris. The headliner is starting to sag a little bit but still looks very good. Car is rust free.
You will not find a nicer 1986 Shelby Charger with the history that this car has. Good luck bidding!
