1957 Dodge Power Wagon (clone 2WD)with a 360 V-8 and an Auto Trans.
The auction winner last week was nine years old. For some reason his grandfather didn't agree withhe's purchase. Also I was told that this truck is not a Power Wagon as it is badged. It's a 1957 D300 2-wheel drive dually. (Told that Power Wagons had a built in fender flare that the 2-wheel drive trucks did not have.) Great low production truck that runs and drives great.
Cab And Bed
1957 was the first year of the Cab Forward design, which continued into the early 1960s. This truck has wrap-around glass front and rear, and a dually long bed. The cab has been rust-proofed and Dyno-mat installed. A new wiring harness was installed and Dolphin Gauges in the dash and the seat has just been re-upholstered with carpet and head unit still needed.
Chassis
The 1-ton chassis was blasted and painted with 2” hitch receivers installed in front and rear. A heavy duty cross member with access holes to accept a fifth wheel set-up was added and the bed has 1 1/2" solid steel tubing added for reinforcement. A 24-gallon fuel tank was fabricated and installed under bed.
Drivetrain
A rebuilt 1973 CHRYLER 360 with a 727 automatic transmission and an external transmission cooler and custom stainless dual exhaust now power this truck. A GM steering column and power steering make the truck easy to drive. An aluminum radiator with electric fan and overflow tankkeeps the engine cool.
SUSPENSION
Complete rebuilt Suspension...truck was lifted 3"in the front, Steering stabilizer, front adjustable air shocks, custom power steering...the rear has 4.10 gears with new mega springs and a 1"lift.
Brakes
New master cylinder, brake cylinders, brake lines, and brake shoes have been installed (drum brakes). Brakes work great
TIRES/WHEELS
Aftermarket 17.5 artillery style painted wheels with Sumitomo steel belted radials (these are 8 ply heavy duty tires)
Summary
You always read in these adds that the truck is 90% complete. I believe that is up to the buyer to decide. This is a running and driving truck with a lot of both time and money put into the build. I have provided a lot of pictures for your review. The truck is sold as is with no warranty. It is being offered for sell locally so the auction will end early if sold outside the auction.
