Description

This 1971 Dodge Demon NHRA Drag Car was built to do only one thing go fast! Nowhere on this car does it try to hide its speedy intentions, which means everyone will hide from your 640 hp coupe on the street and the strip. In fact, this car consistently runs quarter mile times in the mid-to-upper nine second range! This Mopar is a serious contender from every angle. From its menacingly aggressive leaning forward stance to the exterior mounted fuel gauge, this is intimidation on wheels. There are so many stickers from the performance parts that you can barely see the cool red stripe that stands out against the glossy black paint. This one even has flashy pieces of chrome, but this is more in a functional role on places like the wheelie bar and the extra wide Weld wheels in back. But we can't talk about the exterior without addressing the elephant in the room, or more appropriately on the hood. The huge fresh air hood scoop on top of the lightweight fiberglass hood looks like it could swallow lesser cars whole, and this piece sits above the hood like a big flag warning others not to mess with what's directly below it (more on that in a moment.)The interior is civilized enough for street use, but the hardware is made for the track, which is the essence of pro-street. You get a set of racer bucket seats that include Simpson five-point harnesses. The driver has a custom Auto Meter gauge setup. The big tachometer is essential because the real fun of this toy comes from running through the Cheetah SCS Turbo Action shifter. If you were still doubting how serious this car is about getting on the track, just look at the full overhead toggle switch panel for all major components. You also get a full 12-point roll cage and a Lexon windshield. So yes, this one is ready for NHRA down to 8.50.Ok, we won't leave you in suspense any longer about the monster motor. It's a 410 cubic-inch V8 with some serious power upgrades. This includes Comp Cams solid rollers with a .691 ratio, Holley 1050 CFM carburetor, Edelbrock Super Victor intake, MSD distributor, aluminum radiator, and custom long tube headers. That last component not only makes for more power, but also its near free-flow setup below the car that makes the kind of rumble that others feel in their chests. The full package is rated at 640 horsepower. That much muscle reliably gets to the road via three-speed automatic with separate fluid cooler and custom aluminum driveshaft. As you know with any good drag motor, there's also plenty of torque ready to twist the body like taffy. That's why this Mopar has its frame reinforced with added bracing in front, and support bars built into the coilover rear suspension. The tubbed rear end makes room for the wide racing slicks, and the fuel cell and battery in the trunk help keep weight where you want it. Plus, when it comes time to stop all this power, there are four-wheel disc brakes built with aerospace components to disparate the heat that comes from this wicked Demon. This Dodge Demon Pro Street is so mean, it's just barely enough on the right side of the law enough to get a license plate hung on the back.
