Description

1976 Dodge D200 Club Cab

For sale is a 1976 Dodge D200 2WD Club Cab truck body without engine and transmission. It is for sale for restoration or parts. If you have any interest in it, contact me. Otherwise I am going to start parting it out and sell the various body parts. What is left goes to the scrap yard.

Mileage on vehicle is about 80,000 actual miles. It was a running and driving truck when parked. Clean, greenanti-freeze came out of the coolant hoses.

Up until last week we had this truck stored in a nice metal machine shed and it has been in the insulated and heated part of the building since 1991 when it was retired from use. That really protected it from the weather. Sure it has some rust, but it had it before we took it off the road. When we bought the truck in 1987, it alreadyhad some rust on the bed and light accident damage to the drivers fender, bumper and grill.

I don't think it was involved in any other collisions. It drove fine and didn't wear out tiresprematurely or anything like that. The passengers fender has some light damage to it from the same accident, but you could work those slight dents out and use it again. The same is true foras the radiator support that thefenders bolt up to.

I pulled the front clip off yesterday to remove the motor and trans. Original 360-2bbl./automatic drive train is not available to be sold with truck.

Anti-freeze drained right out of the heater core box.Heater core is still good enough to hold anti-freeze andnever leaked on the floor due to corrosion.

If you need a drive train,I do have a re-buildable 318 V8 and 727 trans from a 1974 Dodge van RV camper conversion. Those could be bought with the truck if you want to put it back on the road. It has been stored inside since removed from the van 27 years ago and has been protected from the weather, so the 318 is an excellent candidate to rebuild. Trans is a matching trans to motor with longer tail shaft (14"). The engine was actually rebuilt by the previous owner right before I bought the RV. He owned a automotive repair shop. It hasbrass freeze plugs in it. I didn't drive the van, but just parted it out and stashed some of its parts immediately. They were sitting in the bed of the truck.

This truck hassolid pans as far as I can see. The cab floor looks good, especially in the driver's area. Although the bed sides are rusty, I believe the bed floor is still solid. The truck is an Illinois truck and was rust proofed at Zebart when new, which is why you see black on the backside of the panels. Unfortunately they didn't get inside the bed walls!

By today's standards this was a basic truck, but it was considered a fully equipped model in 1976. Club Cab models were rare and pricey in the 1970s. It had A/C, Auto, P.S., (big) Power disc brakes/rear drums, dual gas tanks, the Sport Adventurer package and trailer towing package. It has a very beefy(huge) rear end with 3:54 gears and heavy duty leaf spring suspension, withbig tires and wheels. Tires are pretty good shape still and hold air.

This thing is a tank and could haul any trailer or load you wanted to throw at it with the right motor and trans. It did pretty well towing with the original 360-2bbl towing 6-7,000 pounds of automobile parts, a Challenger and other stuff on the last long distance trip it made between Florida and Illinois in 1990. It chugged right up Stone Mountain without missing a beat. We didn't need a diesel to do that either, just a mild mannered 180 HP 360.

The bench seat is in very decent condition, as is the dash and door panels. Back jump seats are intact and nice, as are seat belts. Glass is good all the way around. The aluminum topper is fully functional and does not leak. I have a decent tailgate for it, but it isn't shown.

You could replace the bed or make it into a flat bed.

I will sell the truck with all the body parts shown in picture for the BIN price above. I do have the body parts that are shown in the pictures on Craigslist, so make a move soon if this truck interests you. There are a lot of Dodge truck lovers out there looking for these parts, so don't delay if you want a vintage tow vehicle to pull your vintage muscle car or truck to the shows.

We just pulled it out of the machine shed last week, so it has been protected all these years from the weather until then.

Short term storage is available if you buy it and need some time to make arrangements to pick it up. Of course it doesn't run.

It is located 35 miles west of Peoria, IL. Nearby interstates include I-74 and I-55 that are in vicinity of Peoria and Bloomington, IL. Canton is located on routes 9 and 78.

A deposit of $500 to Paypal is required within 24 hours of auction closing. Balance is due in cash upon pickup, unless other satisfactory payment arrangements are made. No personal checks.Non-paying bidders will be reported.

I have storage for it, for the next couple of months. After that it goes down the road one way or another. Thanks for looking!
