This is a beautiful 1970 Challenger HEMI Coupe tribute car with 91,780 miles on the odometer - 5000 miles since completion of this stunning restoration. The car is finished in a fantastic tri-coat Pearl Yellow complemented by a pristine Gray and Black Cloth interior. This is a one of a kind car that will not only win prizes at local car shows but might well be seriously competitive at regional and national shows.
This 1970 Challenger HEMI Coupe underwent a meticulous restoration 12 years ago. And in the last 12 years it has always been stored and covered indoors and it has never been driven in the rain. The rear axle has larger axle shafts and has a sure grip with 3:91 gearing. The transmission was built by a professional transmission builder in Colorado and fitted with a manual shift valve body and an updated torque converter. All this was done to handle the power of the beautifully detailed 528 HEMI that resides under the hood. This engine started life as a Mopar crate engine. Then the aluminum heads were shipped off to Ray Barton where he ported and polished them to his specifications. Then they were shipped back and installed. The big HEMI was then topped with a Ray Barton intake manifold and a Demon carburetor. All of this new found air exits through 2" headers and dual 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust. This car is no slouch and is an absolute blast to drive. The steering box is tight and the power steering functions well. It has disk brakes is the front with drum brakes in the rear. You can easily drive this car to all your local car shows. However, you'll pass everything but a gas station!
The paint looks canary yellow in the pictures but it is not. It's a stunning tri coat pearl yellow. The body work done is second to none. The hood was custom made to fit over the air cleaner as the Ray Barton intake manifold is significantly taller than the original. The hood is one of the unique things about this car because it was done to look like an original T/A hood. The interior was also beautifully refinished and the job done on the dash is second to none. The wheels on this car are also unique as they are American Racing Torque Thrust II's but the rear wheels were custom built to fit the widest tire possible without cutting into the tubbing or fender wells or rolling the inside of the fenders. The frame rails were also connected under the car to accommodate the new found torque and traction. All in all the car was labeled a 1.1 with a 1.0 being a trailer queen! It has won best in class at multiple local car shows. And gets the attention it deserves everywhere it goes. One of the best aspects of the car is even though it is a light resto mod it is still didn't stray from its classic mopar nostalgia, and that is something that every mopar guy can appreciate.
Overall, the car is fun and fast. This is a pristine example of the HEMI Challenger and if you are a fan of this car, you should act soon as we do not expect it to last long.
