Description

We all want our classic car to have a story, and that's what makes this 1959 Edsel Villager wagon instantly appealing. But when you dig deeper, you see a rare car with cool paint, plenty of originality, and a value price. Edsels have really come into their own on the classic car market. While they were born out of a legendary failure to find buyers, today that makes them a distinct and rare choice. And because the Villager wagon version was one of the most expensive (only the convertible was costlier) it became one of the rarest of the rare. Less than 8,000 examples were produced in '59 - and you can already imagine how few have survived today looking this good. There was a professional repaint of the factory-correct Mist Green and Jade Glint Green Metallic. This two-tone is intricate work as the deeper green was applied within the sweeping side trim. In fact, all the major bright work on the coupe is complete and impressive. So this one has a solid presentation that goes well-beyond the famous horse collar grille. The Edsel division was only alive for three years, and each model year had distinctive styling. 1959 is arguably the best of the bunch for the classic car collector. It combines some mass-produced Ford elements so some major repair items are easier found than the first-year examples, and it also this carries more distinctive styling than the third-year cars. The highly original interior continues with the two-tone green and adds in some gold for extra distinction. It creates a total package that's nicely coordinated and absolutely 1950s-style cool. Because both rows of seats have correctly been redone, you can feel comfortable while remaining vintage. You'll slip behind the factory wheel and gaze at gauges that were clearly inspired by the jet age. Legroom is expansive, and there's plenty of room in the back. So this is the perfect classic for those love to do everything from family road trips to tailgating. Under the hood is believed to be a 332 cubic-inch V8. Not only does it have a terrific honest presentation, but the consignor also believes it's original to the car. It fires up with a terrific sound now that the V8 is linked to an upgraded stainless dual exhaust with glasspack mufflers. As a true boulevard-ready wagon, it has all the right features to keep cruising easy, like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and BF Goodrich T/As on REV torque thrust wheels. Rare, interesting, and affordable... and at this price, it's an exceptional Edsel that won't be with us long. Call now!
