Rosso Corsa on Nero interior

44,423 miles

I am selling my ’78 308 GTS. First and foremost, it is due for a major service, as belts, cam belts, waterpump etc. need to be gone through, and I’ve priced accordingly.

Exterior: The car left the factory in Black (Nero) on Black (Nero interior), according to it’s Salchi color code in the trunk. I believe the repaint, in red, is from the late 1980’s, and has aged well, being in good driver condition still. She is not without some marks here and there, and in the photos you will see some of the [minor] blemishes. Namely around the hatch some spots, and passenger rear quarter, small scratch, and passenger side door, there is a small ding/chip. The previous owner also added more license plate mounting holes than necessary [photo], but a license plate covers this when attached. I tried to photograph as best I could to show these defects. The paint holds good luster, and doesn’t appear to have bad swirls or depth. The mirrors are aftermarket, and not original to the 308. The rear bumper has some blemishes, but is in overall good condition. The passenger side lower rocker shows some paint blemishes too. The wheels are original Cromodora’s, with Coker Michelin XWX’s, these have very little miles on them [see tread depth photo]. All glass is original [photos taken of St. Gobain etchings].

Interior: My 308 has a good condition interior. Newer seat covers, with very little to no wear on the bolsters or lower portion of the seats. The targa top, inside and out is also in excellent condition [photos]. The car comes with it’s original Blaupunkt radio, and it turns on fine, though I have had the antennae up, I haven’t tuned it to FM yet, to see how well it works. There are aftermarket Blaupunkt speakers behind the passenger and driver’s heads on the rear shelf. Finished in nero, with red Cavallino’s, I have the original floor mats as well. The clock works and runs, as does the oil temperature, oil pressure, water temperature, speedometer and gas gauges. The tachometer has the “lazy tach” classic Ferrari issue. The driver and passenger window switches work [from both sides], however the driver side switch for the passenger window is slow/non-op from time to time. The rear boot enclosure zipper is gone. The shifter and shift gate are in good condition and the shifts are crisp and timely [Redline used in the gearbox]. There is no dash shrinkage, or blemishes, and all three A/C vents are in good order. The Air Conditioning was removed at some point though, and I do not have it’s components. The wipers work, and all turn signals, brakes, low beam, high beam lights work fine as well. The space behind the seats is in good condition too, with no out of place marks. The door cards are in good condition, with a little wear on the pouch ‘flaps’.

Engine: The engine runs well. It starts cold just fine after letting the fuel pump run and fill. And then sits at idle great as she starts to warm up. At speed, the car is lively and nimble, sitting at 83-85 oil PSI, 190 water temp, and oil temp +- 200. Please note, my 308 does not have it’s SMOG equipment installed, nor do I have any of those components. I just added all new plugs 2 weeks ago, and had a thermostat fan switch replaced. I also had the carbs resynced, and it’s driving quite strong. As noted in the above, the belts and a major are due, I do not have a date from it’s last major service, so that’s an obvious “due out” for the car to be enjoyed without worry. I do not have many maintenance records, but have written up what I do have. I have the basic history back to 1990, where it was purchased in Connecticut, then in 1996 by the brother of that owner. I purchased the car from him, and have known about this 308 for quite awhile, though more important life circumstances call for me [and losing my secondary storage spot], and thus, she’s for sale. Currently I have not registered her, though any inspections or rides can be done with little hassle (small community).

*Please note* photos of the engine out was during 1990-96 ownership (first brother), at his mechanics shop, I don't have a concrete date of when though.

*Please Note* the coolant splashed on the ground [see rear photos] is from adding too-much coolant, and the breather tube "belching" (common 308ness thing) the excess as it works to self level after coming to temperature, it does not have a leak.

Misc: Overall, she’s a good driver condition 308. I’m interested in a serious buyer, and do not have time to deal with tire kickers, that said, if you're a serious buyer, lets discuss. Priced to sell, and will be sold in AS IS condition, no warranty is expressed or implied. Buyer is 100% responsible for all shipping costs and instructions, and I will do my best to accommodate. Any questions please ask, and please enjoy my ad! If you DON’T see something in the photos, then please assume it is not there, as there are 170 hi-rez photos, I did my best to cover the whole car front to back in an honest representation. My 308 is located in Bethel, CT, securely parked indoors at my MILs :) Thanks!
