This 1989 convertible Ferrari Mondial T has 21,750 miles

and is a highly documented, unmodified US-market example finished in RossoCorsa over tan leather.

This is an exemplary example of the highly desired 2nd generation Mondial and is an honest, turn-key example with its 3.4 liter quad cam V8 and 5-speed manual transmission in goodworking order. This particular car spent several years lightly driven and regularly maintained while being displayed in a car museum located in Branson, Missouri and has been generously maintained and conservatively driven by all subsequent owners, including myself. As well, it has never seen rain or snow, or prolonged periods of sunlight.

The many service records speak to a history where every detail was monitored and maintained, with no deferred maintenance throughout it’s 29 year life. This Mondial comes with original keys, and numerous service records dating back to 1991, detailing all minor and major services that included an engine out service (see pics) new timing belt, cam seals, fluid change, and much more. Records include copies of past titles, smog tests, and a driver’s log that a previous owner maintained, keeping meticulous records of where the car was driven, and when, during his ownership. Not included, however, are the original owner’s manuals and tool kit.

EXTERIOR

Pininfarina-styled sheet metalwears all original and clean Rosso Corsapaint that exhibits a smooth gloss throughout. Car has always been garaged and never driven ininclementweather. The front bumper has very slight fading on one corner. Several very small rock chips can be seen in the photos, as I have chosen to not have them fixed, to maintain the originality of the paint. One wheel rim has light curb scratches (see photo). Both headlights work perfectly, engaging and retracting as they should; simultaneous and fast.

INTERIOR

TanConnolly leather upholstery is impressively preserved throughout the interior, with no seat cracking or visible wear, with the exception of a small marking in the rear seat (receipts suggest this was due to a child’s car seat in the early 2000’s). Black vinyl surfaces are free of splits and showno rippling, looseness or distortion. Leather is supple and has that vintage Ferrari scent that we all love.

All glass is original, un-pitted and free of blemishes, with the original Ferrari logos. In October, I had power window accelerators installed on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, which vastly improved the up/down speed. LED lights which emit a soft red glow when headlights are on were also added beneath the dashboard and seats (see picture).

The thick factory three-spoke steering wheel, other controls and hand break lever show very little evidence of use. Carpeting and floor mats are in near mint condition, with no visible wear or fading. Sun visors stay fully folded but could be reupholstered to look factory perfect again (being particular). All switches, mirrors, lights and electric components work properly, with the exception of the electric rear trunk switch which isn’t responsive. The manual trunk pull works fine.

The black convertible wool top is brittle though original and is mostly kept down, but should be replaced. The original ‘Ferrari- stamped’ rear window is, however, completely clear and free of fogging and scratches and should be integrated into a new top. The original leather top boot has stress related wear around one of the buttons, but is in great, soft shape otherwise.

Factory instrumentation remains clear and vivid.Theheater works well along with the factoryair conditioning system, which received new fittings and was converted toR134a refrigerant.

A 6-speaker JVC/Kicker stereo system was recently professionally installed (sensitive to maintaining the car’s originality) which includes a subwoofer and amplifier, and it sounds beautiful. The spare tire is currently stored outside the car (I have AAA) but is provided with the car.

ENGINE

Afull engine-out service (see photos) was performed by Lamborghini of Dallas and included replacement of timing and drive belts, tensioner pulleys, cam seals, spark plugs, and filters, etc. Records include photos taken of the engine out service. The Mondial doesn’t burn oil, and has no visible undercarriage leaks. The 5 speed transmission is smooth and responsive, with no hesitation or slippage. For the pickiest owner, the idle on the engine could be more finely adjusted by the Ferrari dealership, but runs just fine as is. The engine, transmission and all mechanics are original and all numbers are matching throughout the car.

The car is currently driven only 3-4 times per month, and I’ve put just over 350 miles on it during my ownership. I’ve owned many classic cars, and by far this one gets the most attention of all of them—especially in Beverly Hills—which is a discerning bunch. Many times I’ve come out to find people taking pictures of it; a testament to its timeless but unique styling that is just as fresh as it was 30 years ago. Low mileage, well documented, original Mondials of this vintage are becoming increasingly rare and are greatly appreciating in value. A move requires me to part with mine, otherwise I’d keep it in my stable forever.

I am a private owner/seller. The car is lien-free, with no DMV fees due. The dealership plate seen in the photos is an old one that was in the box of records. The car is currently located in Los Angeles, CA and is now offered with a clean Carfax report, showing a slow progression of miles, and I have the California title, clean and clear on hand.
