Description

For your consideration, I offer for sale my 1982 Ferrari 308 GTSi in Black with Tan interior. I’ve loved every minute of owning this car, but times change and I’ve got to let her go. I hope to find a new good home for her where she can bring someone else as much joy and excitement as she has given me!

This is a US-spec car with 89,912 well cared for miles and a clean Carfax. A California car for the past 8 years, it just passed smog (March 2016) and comes with the requisite emissions equipment. I’ve owned the car in Los Angeles since 2008 and have put on only 4000 miles since then. Serviced by Robert Jeni at Performance Exotic in Marina Del Rey, I have put over $15k of work in over the past 8 years- including a “Major” service at 88,227 miles. Aside from proper, regular maintenance, I’ve made a point of fixing and improving all the little things that make driving it a pleasure. Antenna works, hazard lights work, electrical windows work, side-view mirror electrical controls works, headlights are aligned and work, heater blows strong, all gauges work, all instrument and accessory lights work, electrical system is glitch free, etc. A straight, strong running driver, fully sorted!

See this link for a spreadsheet with very detailed service records since 2008: [eBay won't let me post a link. Message me and I'll send it to you!]

I’ve also got a thick binder with service record hard copies going back to 2006, and I have the detailed inspections from the two previous sales. You can even chat with the previous owner, we’ve kept in touch!

Cosmetically, she is a very nice driver-level car with a straight body with great gaps. The black paint is deep and glossy, and in excellent overall shape, with a few chips from road use. There is typical ‘wear’ on the finish as to be expected from a car of this age, and a few light scratches here and there but nothing at all that detracts in any way from the overall appearance of the car. Has to been seen to be appreciated how nice this black car presents!

The trim and badges are in excellent shape, as are the wheels with no curb rash. The glass and lights are in very nice condition as well. All interior and exterior accessory and minor lights work as they should.

The engine compartment is clean and correct in appearance. The trunk area is very clean with nice original carpet and a clean partition, and has a perfectly functioning zipper and cover (which often is broken on these cars). The front compartment is also clean and correct in presentation with a good spare. Original air horn works well, as do the head lights.

The interior is good. The seats are original with appropriate wear for its mileage, the driver’s seat seeing some abrasion through the top layer, especially on the door side lip. The door panels and center console are in good original condition, all stitching is in good order and no marks on the door panels. The carpets are original, with wear near the driver’s left foot and the driver’s side partition and some discoloration, not from stains but simply age. While certainly serviceable, they could stand to be refreshed. The dashboard is great, as are the instruments, switches and controls. Radio antenna, cigarette lighter, hazard lights, all the little details work well. Widows are characteristically slow but completely functional. The original top is in place, with the vinyl and rubber seal in great to excellent condition. The headliner looks to have been replaced at some point and is in good condition.

The car runs and drives great. It starts easily, great oil pressure, good power. Runs properly when cold or hot. It pulls strong and evenly and sounds as it should. The clutch is good and progressive. Great gearbox with good synchros, even 2nd is flawless when cold. The brakes are effective and the steering and chassis are tight and precise. The air conditioning blows but not cold. The AC system is complete and in good condition, but needs a recharge and a small amount of hose fitting work. Cooling system is flawless, never giving problems even in LA’s hot summers (I’ve rebuilt the cooling system including new hoses, pump, and fans).

As the preferences of the new generation of collectors emerge, the 308 is proving to be a popular model with strong investment potential because it is very relevant to these buyers. Values and interest in these cars continues to be strong even where other segments of the market show flagging interest. This is a great honest mileage 308 that's not Red and priced fairly. Inspections encouraged. Sold AS-IS.
