This is a very nice driver quality 850 Coupe that has virtually everything gone through over the 10 years I have owned it. 68,000 original miles is supported by documents that go back to 1992. It is a lifelong CA car that wears its original black plates and ultra-rare plate frame from the selling dealer Larry Reed.
The body is straight and all panels and doors close well, though gaps are uneven as was the case with these cars even when new. Door checks are missing on both sides so care must be taken not to overextend the front doors when open, which I have always been mindful of.
Engine, transmission have been rebuilt by noted Italian car expert Larry Buskirk. All the engine underpans are in place and the car is fitted with an ANSA style sport exhaust. Front suspension has also been rebuilt and lowered slightly as these cars always had an ungainly high front ride height.
The car is red over black as it came from factory though it had a decent repaint 20+ years ago. The repaint was a shade darker than the original red as can be seen in some areas like the fuel filler well and part of the front trunk where some of the repaint has come off. However, the overall presentation is one consistent with a well-maintained car of this age. Front rubber matting has been replaced with black carpet.
No rust of any consequence anywhere, just the usual light surface rust on underside surfaces as you would find even in CA. The underside and wheel wells do have a very old coat of undercoating on much of their surfaces which itself has some overspray from the repaint.
Front seats have been recovered and the correct two widths of piping were recreated. Rear seat has been restitched, but wears its original vinyl. Dash is near perfect. A couple of cracks exists in the top edge interior door window trims and NOS replacements are included. Door glass on both sides has be felt. Rear deck has superficial peeling. Headliner, glass and rear view mirror are original and remarkable for that reason alone.
All gauges, lights and column stalks been gone through and work properly. An 850 Spider oil pressure gauge has been mounted under the left side of the dash as Coupe's never came with such. It runs off a dual feed sender so the oil pressure idiot light also functions. Headlights have been retrofitted to European H4 halogens and relayed to the battery.
No radio is installed and the interior panels were never cut for speakers.
The steering wheel is from an 850 Spider, but the original black steering wheel is included.
Car rides on its original steel wheels that have been refinished and wear new tires. Factory hubcaps are shown on one side only, if I can find the other two they will be included. Otherwise, correct repros are available for $40 each from Mr. Fiat (mrfiat.com/italian/fiat/fiat-850/rims/fiat-850-coupe-spider-wheel-cap.html)
A large collection of parts is included, featuring factory service manual, parts book and body parts book. Also notable are a set of hard to find rear bumpers (One new, one clean used) as well as an optional Abarth front chin radiator and a set of NOS front rotors that are unique to this model year.
