Description

1979 FIAT X1/9 targa convertible. First year for the five speed, last year for the carbureted engine in these cars. This is an immaculate 19,205 original mile, unrestored car with original paint inside and out. Original wheels, alloy trim rings and factory Michelin tires. Since driving on thirty nine year old rubber (Michelin or otherwise) is not a wise idea, I sourced and accurately restored a set of four additional wheels, in the name of drivability, which are currently on the car while the equally nice original set of four wheels, tires and rings are now securely mothballed for posterity. They come with the car. Both sets. Tires are less than six months old.Dash has a half inch crack just aft of front vent, otherwise unmarked. Entirely factory original upholstery including original thick curduroy carpeting is stellar. Plenty more photos available if serious buyer...The car runs and drives as well as it presents. Everything works, including pop up headlights, with exception of the Clarion radio. Still has that new X1/9 aroma...The car retains all of the factory applied brown waxoyl protectant in both front and rear compartments as a testament to the car never having been hit. Easily removed, not pretty, but I personally feel should remain for posterity. Displays extreme restraint as is...All dealer documentation included with sale (owner’s manual and warranty book specific to this car) and difficult to find factory FIAT (not reproduction) assembly and wiring manuals as well.
Timing belt recently replaced, carb rebuilt from extended storage, brakes serviced front to rear, and recent replacement catalytic converter installed. Original muffler will require replacement sooner than later. Internals are intermittently making their presence known...Note: Vin and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud. All documented numbers including vin and matching number engine /drivetrain will be provided to serious buyers. Registered with clear title in my name. The wedge cars of the seventies and eighties are gaining momentum rapidly. Car is in excellent investment quality condition and I would not hesitate to say there may not be too many original X1/9 cars this nice remaining.
