Description

Here is a great opportunity to own a Fiat 600 Convertible!
OVERALLThis is definitely a project car with a lot of work ahead of the new owner, but it has very good bones.I bought this car from a gentleman in California who was into Fiats. I intended on repairing it, but I got distracted by something shinier. Actually rustier to be honest, but more fun I guess.I believe the car is 99% complete, though there might be a few small items here or there.
BODYThis car was NOT in a fire - I know it looks like it when you see the back hood and rear engine mount, but I was told that this car backed into a pole, and the previous owner replaced them with these fire damaged panels because they are straight. You can tell this is the case, because there is absolutely no sign of fire damage on any of the surrounding panels. I honestly think these panels look good. I don't see any severe warpage, but the auction includes a reproduction engine mount panel.
The body is virtually rust free, except two small spots both at the tail end of the sills on both sides. The floorpans were cut out by a previous owner, I don't know why but I think the convertible top leaked, and the floorpans rusted out. New reproduction floorpans are included in the sale. They just need to be trimmed to fit and installed.
There are some dents in the body here and there but nothing serious. The biggest ones are on the rear fenders, both drivers and passenger side. But there is good access to them through the taillight openings, and I think they'll pound it pretty easily. The passenger side front fender has a wrinkle in it which is beyond my skills, but is fixable by a good body man. And of course, repro panels are easy and not too expensive.
All trim is present except some of the badging at the front and two of the hubcaps. I have the missing headlight ring, the taillights and two bumpers with overriders. The bumpers are in good driver condition. They'll need to be rechromed if this is to be a show car.
MECHANICALSThe original (I believe) engine is included, but it is seized. I have purchased a 100G engine from a Fiat 600D - 18% bigger output, but should bolt up easily. I have started this engine and it runs very well, nice and smooth. The exhaust is rusted and it's a bit loud, but it is a good running engine. A radiator is also included. Two transmissions are included as well as extra engine accessories.
INTERIORThe front seats are from different cars. The drivers seat side has a tubular frame, and the passenger side seat has a stamped steel frame. I believe, once covered, you won't be able to tell the difference, but purists may want to source a matching set.
GLASS & TRIMAll glass is present and in good shape with no cracks. The windshield was removed by the previous owner, and is currently boxed (I placed it in the frame for these photos).
This is a no reserve auction. I set the bidding very low. I don't NEED to sell the car, but I am ready to make more room in the garage, and take an item off my project list.
I am available basically ANY time to show the car or to take additional photos or discuss the car on the phone. PM me to make arrangements.
I don't intend to sell the car outside of eBay to sneak around their fees, so please don't ask.
I work withan incredible shipping broker (I'm not a dealer, just for my other stuff) and I'm happy to put you in touch with her for shipping information. That will of course be at your expense. I may be willing to deliver it within 4 hours or so drive from my home in Interlaken NY (near Ithaca and Watkins Glen) for a reasonable fee.

UPDATE: I had an eBayer write and let me know that the engine I bought appears to be out of an 850 not a 600D, and it has counter-clockwise rotation instead of clockwise. So it'll need a new cam to be used in this car. FYI
