FOR SALE: 1986 FORD TBIRD 5.0/AUTO 86K MILES
I bought this car in 2015 as a parts car for my restored 1985 Tbird. I purchased it from a body shop and the owner stated that it ran hot. I assumed that the head was blown and didn't care to investigate as it was a solid parts car. I got lucky and found that the thermostat failed in the closed position and not only did the car run, it drove great and had no major red flags. everyting works on this car, windows, heat, ac, all electronic items, cruise control, stereo and tape deck. all lights, all dash items, its all there and 100% complete
Recently, I came to the conclusion that low miles and a little sludge have the oil pick up and screen needing replacement. The car holds idle pressure between 35-40lbs but has dropped as low as 8lbs after about a half hour, it has not developed any knocks.
Of course this was after I did the following:
brakes, pads, shoes, drums turned, wheel bearings and lines
cat back stock exhaust
water pump, hoses and belts
Napa Battery
filters: fuel, air all fluids changed,
intake gasket, plained intake surface,
used header panel (original was cracked, no damage beyond slight dent in front of the hood)
and lots of misc items I'm forgetting.
The reserve is less than the amount of money I spent in parts. I know I am going to lose 2/3 of my money on this one but at some point you have to stop throwing money at a project. Sorry to see it go because I love these cars but can't justify reason to to let it sit. The car is solid. It was clearly garaged because the usual rust spots are non existent. I was told it was passed down in the family to a younger guy who went off to college and parked it under a tree for two years. The sap has since been removed but the paint is destroyed. Its ready to sand and paint or leave it as is.
Great for engine swap, project etc.... I think its worth saving...
Its for sale locally, so I can end this auction any time without warning. Interested buyers are more than welcome to inspect in person but I'm limited to evenings and weekends. It is drive-able now. I have driven it 70 miles without issue recently but because of the noted oil pressure issues I will default to the car should be trailered or towed.
please give me a full day to respond to questions. I wont disclose reserve, sorry
