Description

Life is too short and the garage is too small. This was a attempt to build the ultimate '40 pickup and I am pleased to say it resulted in what you see...a NSRA T-shirt car, a Goodguy's "Coolest" pick, a Portland Roadster Show Best in Class "Radical Custom Street Rod Pickup", A NAPA Calendar car, a display case full of trophies and my most treasured statement "Pretty darn neat truck, guy!" from the one and only George Barris.
Basically it is a blueprinted 355 Chevy SB, a built 350 Turbo, "Fatman" independent tubular front end with coil overs, power rack and pinion and power disc brakes. A parallel sprung 3:50 9" Ford rear with sway bar and power rear disc brakes, all on cold forged billet Weld wheels.
The real labor of love (and expense) was in all of the steel body modifications. Shaved front bumper, custom built grille center, peaked hood with extended sides (to fit flush with fenders), filled cowl, 3"chopped v-butted windshield, Carson lift off (fits in bed) padded top, covering an integrated roll bar, suicide hard top doors with power windows, 10 3/4" extended cab, all custom sculpted tweed interior (look close at the designs), milled aluminum "Dakota Digital" dash, tilt custom wheel, remote opening doors / gas flap door, padded metal bed cover over a totally fabricated, tubed, (with hidden battery and tool box storage) bed with modified passenger rear fenders, flush mounted tail light over a frenched rear rolled pan. I didn't want to make it look obvious but I think every panel was modified one way or other. Fantastic body work is covered with PPG Royal Twilight Pearl with airbrushed "Asphalt" flamed graphics. I am sure there are more things I have left out. With 5 years of work and 25 years worth of money, this truck has more than met all of my expectations.
Always the big question, what's wrong with it and why are you selling it? I never put any tunes in it (even on several smooth riding state wide crossings) I preferred listening to FM V-8 and I never charged up the Vintage Air (R-12), when it was "cooler" to take the top off. Basically it is a great custom pickup and I had a lot of fun showing it but it is time to thin my collection of cars down so I have the space to finish at least one more car project. This is too great of a ride to leave sitting in the corner of my garage like another dusty trophy. Someone needs to enjoy it and be driving the wheels off of it.
As usual, "As is, where is" warranty. I didn't build it to sell it, so I didn't take any short cuts on quality. If I can help with any additional questions, shipping, etc, please feel free to e-mail or give me a call (509) 467-8773. I might consider an interesting trade. The reserve is less than half of what it cost me to build it. Thanks for looking, Dave in Spokane
