Description

You can buy this 1965 Ford F-100 because it's an affordable vintage pickup in a quickly appreciating market. But really we know you've peeked at the performance-built 390 V8 under the hood and realized how much fun you can have with this ultimate sleeper. This truck gives an interesting first impression. The white paint has a very sterile workman attitude, and it has a nice shine thanks to a professional respray within the last five years. But the bright trim running down the side of this Custom Cab pickup gives it an unmistakable hot rod flair. This one tries to hide its performance nature behind a tough and dependable appearance, but then you start to notice the little touches like the exhaust tips on both sides, and the open bed for better aerodynamics. Possibly the best example of this pickup's incognito spirit are the classic painted wheels and Ford Motor Company hubcaps that help mask the grip of modern Kumho Solus tires. The interior can't help but show off more of this pickup's enhanced aggression. It starts with the bold red vinyl on the restored bench seat. This matches the color on the dash and vintage Ford steering wheel. You instantly know there is something special going on with this F-100 because just in front of the original factory gauges there is a large AutoMeter tachometer. Just to your right is a full set of auxiliary readouts and a manual gearshift with a Mustang topper a great tribute to other famous Ford that showed up for the 1965 model year. But the enhancement that you might enjoy the most is the modern insulation that was installed during restoration. This means you have far better temperature control and noise reduction than the standard rubber mat that came from the factory all those decades ago. Under the hood is what is believed to be the original 352 cubic-inch big-block motor. That was pretty impressive for '65, but today we can do much better. That's why it was bored and stroked to 390 ci. The motor was rebuilt and enhanced around 600 miles ago to include performance upgrades such as Edelbrock heads, RPM cam kit, Edelbrock performer intake, Holley four-barrel carburetor, and MSD ignition. It shows exceptionally nice with the bright elements like the air cleaner and valve covers, as well as the bold wiring kit. But even if you don't open the hood to show all this off, you can tell everyone there's a beast in the engine bay once they hear the rumble from the headers and dual Xlerator mufflers. Making sure that you have the most control over these power upgrades is a four-speed manual with a durable RAM ceramic clutch. It hooks up to a Ford nine-inch limited slip rear end running versatile 3.25 ratio. Plus, you have the control of the aforementioned modern Kumho tires, and even front disc brakes. But more than just performance, you want this F-100 because it's a 1965 model, which is the first year for the upgraded and desireable twin I-beam front suspension that is as durable as a solid axle, but rides significantly better. This one is a true classic sleeper hot rod pickup that you can love every day. It doesn't even skimp on the vintage touches, including its owner's manual.
