Description
My Father ordered this truck at the end of 1973. He took delivery in early 1974. The truck has been in our family ever since. It has been in California all its life and only off roaded twice. He gave it to me to give to one of my sons. Neither wants it so its now For Sale. I helped him restore it in the mid nineties. We pulled the motor to rebuild it and upgrade the heads for unleaded gas and added a 4 barrel intake. We installed a new clutch, Rebuilt the wheel cylinders, new shoes, New exhaust. It had its 1st repaint at that time(Originallythe cab roof was light blue)The seat recovered and new tires. He didn'tdrive it much. It sat in front of his home in Willow Glen, CA. He came out one day and it was GONE. A couple of amigos were caught in Blythe Californiaat the Mexican border with it and a few other trucks. He went down to retrieveit and surprisinglyit was fine except the drivers door had been changed and the VIN tag removed from the drivers door jamb. The CHP put a new assigned VIN on it. After that adventure he put it in storage and that's where it has been since. Last time it was registered was 2005. It was then Non OP'ed. There are NO back fees. We started the registration a few weeks ago after getting the VIN verifiedby the CHP. They found the original VIN in a 'Secret Place'. Who ever buys it will be the 2nd registered owner. Any rust you see is surface rust except for the drivers door which was replaced by the amigos. (See Picture, 3 spots). This is a California truck. The pictures of the undercarriageare as it was born, NO BLACK SPRAY PAINT as you see on other trucks on E-Bay. This is a Honest truck. All sheet metal is original except for drivers door and tailgate.I recently completed the following work after the truck was in storage for about 15 years. I pulled the fuel tank and had it rinsed. Installed a new fuel pump, carburetor, all fuel lines, starter, battery, all tune up parts, filters, oil change, inspected brakes, gently used set of 35" BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A's, new coolant, recovery tank, wiper blades, seat cover, new rubber floor mat and heat insulation, new headliner, dome light lens, headlight switch, rear cargo light switch, both shifter boots and probably a few things I forgot. Runs and drives great. Everything works except the factory horn. It has a 1956 Gillig bus air horn mounted in the drivers front wheel well. I installed a new Hadley compressorin the engine compartment. Tank and switch's are from the 80's. Crazy LOUD! He installed a WARN winch bumper in the 90's but never added a winch. No Radio. I Simple Green'ed the under carriageand then greased all to zerk fittings.
1974 Ford F-250 4x4, 360 Engine, 4 speed with compound low, 205 divorced transfer case, Dana 44 front with big hubs, Dana 60 rear open, Dual exhaust, Factory power brakes, Power assisted steering, Air Conditioning, tow hitch, trailer brake controller. Known issues, Air Conditioning works great and was converted to R134 long ago but only works when jumped. There is a sensor mounted in front of the Radiator support that is inline with the power to the compressor. Some kind of temp sensor I believe. Cant find a listing for it anywhere. Air Conditioning is Factory. I would change all the cooling hoses due to age. No leaks but its a good idea. The Factory roof cab lights leak water inside the truck. The gaskets are cracked due to age. These are the early version and are availablefrom LMC Truck. Some of the weatherstripping needs to be replaced(Window Track). Power steering leaked. It has the factory power assist. I put in Lucas Power Steering Fluid. It sealed all the leaks and works fine now. The factory windshield washer bag is missing. All the wiring is there. LMC Truck has these to. The inspection cover is missing on the bell housing. No spare tire or jack. New fuel sending unit works sometimes. Probably defective. Needs a paint job. The tailgate was stolen in the 80's. We ordered a Japanesereplacement. The sheet metal separatedand was repaired poorly. Works fine but ugly. No rear bumper. 2 pieces of cab chrome missing passengers side, Availableat LMC Truck. This would be a great truck to drive as is or a Fantastic truck if painted and detailed. If you have any questions or need other specific pictures just let me know. My name is Eric. Truck availablefor inspection and Pick Up in Grass Valley California.
