Many moons ago I had a great desire to own a 1967 Mustang Convertible. After searching for years and passing on multiple vehicles I realized the task would prove to be a bit more difficult than I expected.
Ironically I wasn't deterred. An adverse effect came into play making the search a quest as I incorporated rarity into the criteria.
38,000 convertibles were produced that year but only a little over 4,000 were luxury models.
Once I decided that this would be the model for my collection I ratcheted measure up a notch!
I finally came up with this incredible find!
This limited owner special collector car is a perfect investment grade vintage vehicle (rock solid investment)!
Presented here and for your consideration is one wonderful 1967 A - Code drop top Mustang displayed in "RARE" factory shade coined (X- Code Vintage Burgundy Metallic) by Fordâ€!
There's a great deal that can be said about this vintage pony car. However, I will first attempt to give some insight and a hand full of details regarding its history, condition & drivability!
Feel free to call and find out how to put this stallion in your stable before the next guy does (314) 497-9470! AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE PURCHASE!
The M.C.A. (Mustang Club of America) ranks the 1967 A -Code Mustang among the head of the class when speaking in terms of value / appreciation & convertible collectability!
This two owner Mustang was delivered new to Byerly Ford in Louisville KY in December 1966.
By all accounts the original owner was a Kentucky native and a local celebrity of sorts.
He actually helped construct the Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville KY. Being well connected & unprecedented Ford fan gave him some advantage when it came to collecting unique Blue Oval cars.
The 67 A-Code that's shown here sat between his 1965 Shelby GT 350 and 1966 Ford Mustang AFX race car for many years.
It is believed that his wife drove the convertible a little more than he did but there were family photos of them enjoying it together.
Many years later they parted ways with a few select models and this Mustang was caught in the fold (sold approximately 2003).
The next destination for this A Code pony car would be Idaho. Much less is known about the second owners however, it seems they purchased it mainly for pleasure cruises.
After a decade or so of enjoyment the decision was made to begin the process of conducting a complete restoration.
Many details were giving regarding the painstaking assignment however having an unmolested foundation with original panels surely helped. Evidence points to the craftsman focusing more on meticulous details than disturbing any structural components (protected and sheltered).
*Taking it from the top*
Having the car painted properly was first priority for the new owners. That being said great strides were taken to get it right.
Vintage Burgundy has quickly become a favorite among Ford collectors. Although there are several reasons for this the main one is because of rarity! 1967 was the last year that you could purchase a Mustang produced in this gorgeous color! The Ford world would see the introduction of Royal Maroon in 1968 (which was quite different & wasn't offered in metallic) making it less desirable.
At any rate ..... with this fact being recognized the owner appointed Williams Auto Paint Supply in Richmond KY to acquire the exact shade that the car came draped in off the assembly line!
Being a bit of a perfectionist cost him a great deal of time & money however, it doesn't take a millisecond to appreciate the cars overall appearance!
Once all of the factory specs and gaps associated with original manufacturing were aligned to be period correct the body was prepped for paint.
When the contour and condition of each panel had passed the litmus test a base coat clear method was utilized to cover the body.
The overall exterior presentation and color is quite striking! The actual shade and hue is difficult to describe in essence! However this Mustang received special recognition at a few notable Mid West Mustang & Fun Ford car shows because of it. This A Code pony maintains a high gloss shine at any given time of day!
The presence of metallic in the enamel is immediately evident! She looks incredible from every angle and people from everywhere make you aware of it!
Camera phones always seem to be busy snapping pictures once the car cover rolls off & it leaves the garage!
The deep dark crimson exterior seems to transform into more of a wine burgundy at dusk "STUNNINGâ€!
If you are sick of the traditional red, black & blue vehicles that plague the road ways consider this one the cure!
The exterior is void of the common imperfections associated with amateur body work.
Before the vehicle was authorized to be released it was treated to a litany of top notch N.O.S. parts.
All of the chrome appointments on the car are in stellar condition!
The front & rear bumpers have been replaced with Ford sanctioned reproduction ones!
The emblems on this pony are new also!
The remainder of the stainless trim moldings including the window edge moldings still have plenty of life left & them!
The head light bucket trim, grill edge moldings, grill & chrome back up light retainers are all in fantastic shape!
Perpendicular to the roof line you will find the iconic Mustang performance hood equipped with integrated turn signals!
Located along side are bright stainless rocker panel moldings with an excellent set of Raven Black GT style side stripes that provide amazing contrast against the burgundy exterior (race ready)!
Again this Mustang is ready for any venue

Many owners and collectors tend to neglect the fact that these components need to be replaced or serviced if they are original to the car. Failure to address the needed preventative maintenance / service on the previously mentioned parts results in frustration and very expensive repairs!

The trunk rails and inner quarters are rock solid (Must See)!
Now that I have given several reasons why you should love this Ford...... I will talk about yet why a few Chevy guys hate it!
No Mustang can truly be considered a muscle car without having a factory V/8!
The heart and soul of this horse is its STOUT factory high performance 289 small block! Ford added enough kick with the A Code motor to keep those happy who wanted a great deal of horse power without all of the problems associated with big blocks!
THIS PONY RUNS STRONG!!!!
The motor has plenty of giddy up and is ready for the open road!
The A Code motor cars received high praise from Car & driver because of the solid lifter camshafts & dual point ignitions designed for higher RPM's (very noticeable in this one)!
It has the stamina to push you back in the seat if you open the throttle!
Although the car is very user friendly ....it is always nice to have the power on tap (if needed)!
She turns over with just a flick of the key at the slightest touch!
You simply have to drive this one to appreciate it. This Mustang actually came equipped with 3/8 inch connecting rod bolts (which are also found in the Hi Po cars)!
LET'S LISTEN!!!
It is incredibly fun hitting the freeway in this Mustang! The car is extremely reliable & very responsive! There is a fairly new radiator installed that helps keep it cool under the hood!

The car has recently had new plugs, wires, cap, water pump, thermostat, gaskets, seals, fuel pump, oil sending unit, alternator, battery, hoses, belts, starter and just too much more too list!!!
