Description

Hello. I have decided to part with my 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Fastback. It's a pretty rare car indeed as it has the original 390Y engine and C6 transmission that it came with. Of course it has been beefed up since it's debut. This car was raced about 20 years ago and the previous owner installed a few goodies to give it a little extra edge down the quarter mile drag strip. The engine has a pretty radical race cam, solid lifters, high pressure oil pump and performance head components. It still has the long tube headers that were installed back in the day. The rear end has 4:11 gears and is tight. This car will of course will need some body work, door glass seals and a good paint job but it's fine to drive as is. Underneath is pretty solid. The guy at the muffler shop couldn't get over how good it still looked under there for a car of this age. This car still has the original radio which does not work by the way, and its original carpet with still looks pretty good. There is a seam in the headliner that needs resewing. The original back seat has tears along the very top but is nicely concealed with the top carpet piece that I've used for the hatch back area. Dash is ok but has wear around the speaker grill. There has been a tachometer installed in the far right place on the instrument cluster area where there was nothing but an emblem inside the clear plastic housing. This car has manual brakes and steering which both work properly. No a/c or heat.
The engine has been rebuilt and is bored .060 over with fresh new pistons, rings, bearings, seals, etc. The heads also have over $1000.00 worth of work done to them. The transmission is working properly and has a shift kit installed by the previous owner. Before this car was parked, it had installed on it a high rise tunnel ram twin carb set up with 2 Holley double pumper carburetors. It now sports a more street cruising worthy less fuel consuming Edelbrock Performer Aluminum intake and 650 carburetor.
The following items are new for this car.
