Description

1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner 2-door Hardtop. Originally a Z-code car equipped with the 300HP 390ci V8 with a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive (the 3-speed/OD was the top manual transmission for 1961, 4-speeds not being available until 1962). Original engine and trans long gone but I do have a three speed/OD transmission that can go with the car if desired and the clutch pedal is still in the car. Car now has a 460ci V8 backed by a C6 automatic. The engine has very few miles since rebuild and runs very well. It features an Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock carburetor, and Holley finned aluminum valve covers. Newer exhaust with Flowmasters. It has been converted to a Pertronix ignition eliminating the points. The transmission functions but is need of a rebuild. Car has it's factory 9-inch rear-end and was originally equipped with a Traction-Lok limited slip with 3.56 gears. The Traction-Lok unit is still there but gears have been upgraded to 3.70. Car still retains it's original 4-wheel drum brakes and are in good working condition. New Cragar S/S wheels and new front tires, 15X7 front, 15X8 rear. Rear tires are older but decent.
Body is good with a few minor flaws. Paint is an older job but still shows well with a few chips and a couple bubbles hear and there. Car was originally white. There is slight damage on the top of the right front fender and a bump in the center of the hood where it was closed with a carburetor stud that was too long. Trim is in good condition. Rear trunk pan and left rear footwell (behind driver's seat) have been repaired but panels were put over the top of old metal and not butt welded (shown in pics). Trunk lid has some rust where mice had nested (see pics). Another trunk lid is included with sale. Bumpers are OK driver quality, not perfect but decent. Glass is all good.
Interior is original color scheme. Seats are still original upholstery and are getting worn. Door panels and rear package tray have been redone. Seat bolts have been installed front and rear. Original AM radio still works as well as the heater. Dash pad has one small crack near the speaker grille and headliner is in good condition.
Vehicle still has it's original Washington license plates and has a clear Washington title.
Overall this is a good, solid driver quality car which can be enjoyed as is or restored to original condition. It is driven sparingly to local car shows and events during the summer and is always stored indoors. I will be happy to answer any questions through Ebay.
