Description
1956 FORD THUNDERBIRDOptional 292 V8 / 3 Speed Manual w/Overdrive / Continental Package
Up for your consideration is myfriend's beautifully restored '56 T-Bird. He's only selling it to "thin the herd" and focus on other projects that he has. This is one of many cars in his collection that will be offered over the next couple of months. He takes great pride in the cars he owns and it shows.
The high-gloss black paint shines like a mirror and all the chrome trim is inbeautiful shape. The professional restoration was completed approximately 4 years ago. The car is rock solid and there is no rust or rot. A lot of time and money has gone into making this T-Bird a stunning head turner. The 91,653 miles showing on the odometer is the actual mileage. The engine runs smooth like it should and the 3-speed manual transmission (with Overdrive) shifts flawlessly. The optional 292 V8with the 4 bbl carburetor moves this Bird with plenty of power. The AC is complete andintact but will need a chargeto be operable. Allglass is in great shape with the exception of the one vent window that has a crack in it. The Coker wide-whitewall tires are BRAND NEW and look amazing with the gloss black paint.
The interior was also restored with the exception of the headliner that is in pretty good shapeother than needing to be cleaned (see pictures). The dash, including all trim and knobs, is in great shape. The seat is in perfect shape with no tears or wear showing. The carpet is also in like newcondition.
All body gaps are nice and body lines straight and clean. All sheet metal is infantastic shape. Brakes, master cylinder, rear-end seals, and slave cylinders all recently replaced inaddition to a fresh tune-up. The car comes with theremovable hard top only. There is no soft convertible top. Also, the car is equipped with a functioning tachometer, factory telescoping steering wheel, and factory clock. And yes, the clockfunctions and keepsaccurate time !
Overall, this TBird is in fantastic shape! In the spirit of full-disclosure I would rate it as a "higher-end driver/show quality classic" that can be driven and enjoyed. It is not a 100 point "concours" trailer queen, but the professional restoration was done right and the car shows it well. The '56 T-Bird is a great investment classic car that continues to climb in value year after year. The lucky new owner will enjoy this one for a long time to come. The car is ready to be driven, shown, and enjoyed by it's new owner !
