1963 FORD FAIRLANE SPORT COUPE BUCKET SEAT CONSOL THUNDERBOLT 260 V8 AUTO TRANS
Description
In 1963 Ford’s Fairlane was well positioned for the coming wave of demand for high-powered intermediates; it was smaller and lighter than the full-size Galaxie but used the same potent engines, and its styling and available interior trim gave it a sporty air of confidence. That same year, Ford presented an all-new engine to the public, an innovative and lightweight V-8 using thin-wall casting. First offered with a displacement of 221 CI, this new small-block engine was 90 pounds lighter than its Chevrolet counterpart, and sturdy enough for use in the full-size Galaxie. Later in the year they offered a more powerful 260 engine for the sport coupe cars.
