Description

I am going to go into great detail and will point out all flaws that I am aware of because I am extremely honest and don't like surprises when I buy a vehicle and don't think you would either. I am selling it with no reserve. This is a 1976 Ford 2 wheel drive F-250 Ranger Camper Special pickup truck that I recently purchased at an estate sale. I am selling it because I am not a Ford guy but I did see it was a pretty nice truck and knew someone would love to have it. It's a very solid California truck with no rust rot anywhere that we could find and just a few dings or scrapes here and there. It's very original and has a 390 4v engine with what I believe is a c6 automatic transmission and Dana 60 rear end. This truck was parked 7 years ago and placed on planned non operation status with the california DMV so there are no back fees or penaltys. ( I have the non op paperwork) it was parked because the radiator had a leak and the elderly owner wasn't able to deal with it. Before the leak it was a daily driver. This truck just had the automatic transmission and converter completely rebuilt less than 500 miles before it was parked and the tranny is still shiny silver.(cost $1400) When we bought the truck it wouldn't start because the dual tank selector valve was bad ( dual fuel tanks) but before we figured this out we installed a new fuel pump to try and get fuel which did nothing. I have since removed the tank selector and run a short hose from the front tank strait to the main steel fuel line so that the truck will run and drive and the fuel gauge also works. I have since purchased the correct new electronic fuel valve and it's on its way and it will be included with the truck. So here is the goo, the truck is surprisingly strait with just a few little dings and scrapes here and there And has all it's original trim. I have just driven it around my large yard but It's starts and stops and the tranny shifts as it should and just about everything seems to work. I believe it's original paint which has nicks and scrapes here and there and is also kinda flat looking and if I were to keep the truck I would try buffing it out as I think you could make it look very presentable. It has nice looking all matching mag wheels and I have the keys for the ignition and doors and the clear title. The power steering works fine. The bad, The radiator leaks and the heater core probably does to as the hoses that go to it are disconnected. The air conditioner belt has been removed but everything else is there so I don't know what shape the AC is in. While the brakes seem to work fine with no pull and plenty of pedal, the pedal itself seems like it's stiff and sticking a bit and you have to pull it up with your toe or the brake lights will stay on. The floor of the bed has surface rust but no rot or holes. It could use some scrubbing with a wire wheel and maybe some roll in bed liner. There is an exhaust leak that pops a bit on deceleration if you rev the engine. The motor has good power but runs kinda rough especially at idle. I have done nothing to the motor, other than putting a battery in the truck and topping off the fluids and blowing it off with air and I'm sure some servicing would go a long way after sitting 7+ years. All gauges work except the amp Gaug, the windows roll up and down, and the heater fan and wipers and all lights work. The horn button is missing, the cardboard headliner has a crack in it and the carpet is pretty shredded on the drivers side and has numerous stains. The tires are all 4 toyo brand and hold air fine and have decent tread but have some weather checking. The rubber brake foot pedal cover is missing and the drivers side of the seat shows some wear. There is one tiny star in the windshield but i think it could be repaired to be invisible. The tailgate is not original however new ones are surprisingly cheap on eBay. I don't know if this truck originally had a cat converter in the exhaust but there isn't one now. There is no spare tire but the spare tire carrier under the truck is all there and so is the jack which is under the hood. It's basically an old original survivor that has been sitting for many years and will need work and attention before being road worthy. If you have been looking for a strait 70's vintage Ford to restore this would be an excellent rust free candidate. This truck is not road ready and although it runs and drives it will need work to be reliable. It's being sold as a project truck or "for parts or repair " and sold completely as is with no warranty or returns. If a smog test is required where you live it will be your responsibility. Please feel free to ask all questions and if you want more photos please include an email address in with your question so I can send you the pics you requested. If you need the truck shipped I will work with you from my end as possible. You will however need to arrange your own shipping. I will help load and make sure is secure when it leaves but all shipping details are up to you.
