Some history and information about a unique opportunity to buy this special '65 Fastback.
I have known and worked on this car in California for over 25 years. In 1993 a Hollywood producer named Pat G (don't want to name last names) drove this Shelby clone into into my Mustang shop (see mustangmarty.com) and wanted to make some improvements. One thing led to another (you know how that goes) and he had me do a LOT of work, and spent a lot money on it. This is when the suspension and chassis work were done, as well as the new 11" clutch and flywheel, rear end gears, entire brake system, all new exhaust, and Shelby quarter, windows and functional scoops. The car was intendedto be kept, not sold. Pat didn't use it much and he never raced it, or so he said. Around 2003 Pat sold the car to my friend, drumming legend Gary N., on the condition that if Gary ever needed to sell it I would get first chance to buy it back. Around this time the car was signed by Mr. Shelby in Los Angeles. Also the aluminum heads and roller cam conversion were done. Gary never raced it at the track (despite my frequent encouragement), kept in a garage in L.A's San Fernando Valley, and used it once in a while to do a gig, buy Mexican food, or on an occasional canyon carve, I suspect. Very few miles were put on the car just enough to keep the gas fresh, if even that.
This amazing car has a very straight and solid body, no rust, no patch panels, original sheet metal, all original, clean and unmolested floors, qtr panels, trunk drop offs, everything. It's spent most of it's life garaged in Southern California (it doesn't get better than that), and still has it's California license plates and title. It has been in Florida only a couple months, and has been garaged.
This car was built to be able to withstand the rigors of road racing but still be able to be driven to the track and back home. Functionality, driveabilityand performance were the main objectives, as you can see by the types of modifications that were done. The paint job for over 25 years, and has some flaws and touch-up, but still shines great, plus it's been on the car a long time so you know what you are getting. The panels are very straight, the floors, rails, shock towers, rocker pinch weld areas, leaf spring mounting areas, door front corners etc. are all in great shape, and show no signs of rust. The car as whole is straight, original and unmolested.
I have gone through the whole car and prepared it for the new owner just now before listing it. I checked the car thoroughly, installed new plugs, rebuilt the carb, new K&N air filter, changed all filters and oil, replaced fluids, greased car, checked and packed front bearings, lubed windows, adjusted steering box, adjusted headlights, new wiper blades, and more, and fine tuned everything. I also installed the 17" wheels and tires. These are brand new, 0 miles.
This is a rare opportunity to buy a car started out as a very solid, clean car and then had a ton of money put into it in just the right places . The car is not perfect, but all the right parts are on it and hard work is done, and done by a professional Mustang specialist. If I had to duplicate this car today with all these goodies (if you could even find a fastback this solid to begin with) it would cost over 125K. All modifications were done to make the car extremely dependable, comfortable, and rugged, as well as handle, drive, stop, look, and feel a good as a Mustang can. Whether you decide to show it, vintage race it.... or just take it down for a cruise to your favorite spot, this car was built to enjoy.
Here's you chance to buy an L.A. car with some history, professionallybuilt with the right parts, nothing experimental, just the best time tested, bulletproof performance upgrades available, just as Carroll liked it.

On Jul-25-17 at 09:18:43 PDT, seller added the following information:I just want add that if the dirt on bottom bothers you, and you want a clean, painted and detailed undercarriage I will be glad to do it for you for free, if you click on "buy it now" or for a few hundred extra on top of any winning bid if you want. This is really not a big deal, I probably should have done it but I was too lazy, and I wanted to show that the car was unmolested. It's not a show car you're looking at anyway, this car was built to be driven. Thanks.
On Jul-25-17 at 19:26:17 PDT, seller added the following information:It looks like the Flowmaster muffler on the right side has a dent, but it is perfect, it's just the light, look again. Thanks.
On Jul-26-17 at 22:05:06 PDT, seller added the following information:I want to also mention that this is the car that I used as the model for the 22 gallon fuel tank conversion filler neck (which I designed and now manufacture and sell to all the Mustang parts houses). I have been working only on Mustangs professionally for 35 years and I am moving away from working on them, and now I manufacture Mustang parts (see my other items). I worked on peoples' Mustangs, but I almost never buy or sell them. This is not some amateur restoration that may look look shiny on bottom, but try and drive it (much less race it) and it will over heat or the wheels will fall off. I have just gone through the whole car, checked it, lubed it, adjusted it and serviced it. Read the list of modifications done to this car and compare them to other cars that are for sale. Compare the tire sizes for example. This is a very special car, and those who know really Mustangs and know what it takes to properly modify and prepare a 52 year old car that you can actually road race or just be able to drive hard on the street dependably will know that this car is different than all the other Mustangs for sale on ebay. Thanks, Marty
