Description

Want to have some fun? Go hill climbing or go for ice cream
This is a very well done but amateur built running, driving and registered Speedster project on clear California "non-op" title. It is unique but can be made yours easily.I purchased this project from an estate in pieces with the desire to "see it run and drive" on behalf of the builders family. He was a self taught fabricator that put many many hours and lots of money in this project only to pass away before completion. It is still incomplete lacking a windshield, (not legally required) permanent seats and other minor mechanical items. The vintage racing windshields and "Bomber" seats were sold to someone else before I got there. The seat pictured is temporary and not secured but is included and could actually be a great seat for the speedster.
The chassis is basically stock Model A that appears to have been rebuilt, brakes are mechanical, steering is 2-tooth with a custom hand made aluminum steering wheel, wheels are black powder coated 19". Hub caps are non functional but removable "knock-off"s. The tires have good tread but are old, checked and for roller purposes only. The stock 3 speed transmission shifts as intended and both the trans and differential operate as they should with no unusual noise. There are no shocks installed. The engine is a rebuilt Model A with the "Jern Thunderbolt" conversion to overhead valve using a 1928 Chevrolet head. The little speedster is very quick. This conversion is discussed in several blogs which can be found by googling Jern Thunderbolt. The car also comes with a binder of related information compiled by the builder. The engine runs very well with its dual downdraft carbs and 12 v electrical system. The distributor is electronic and the radiator is brand new as are the hoses and fan belt. There is a master battery disconnect installed as well. Since the project was in storage for an extended time I drained and replaced all oils and fluids before running the engine. The all aluminum hand formed body is unfinished requiring some riveting to be completed, minor metal work and finished as desired. The green color visible in the pictures is old zinc chromate. The custom fabricated aluminum fuel tank is mounted behind the seat area and appears to be a 20-25 gallon tank. The filler is on the top rear behind the driver and has a quick release cap. All electrical systems have new wiring and fuel system has new hoses. The gauges are all operable as are the head, tail and brake lights which are LED. The horn works as well. There are no turn signals. The 44,156 mileage is what is showing on the working odometer but is not the original speedometer. With comparatively little labor and expense remaining this fun, quick little speedster/ street cruiser/hill climber may well be worth twice the opening bid price and it is listed to sell with no reserve. Please look closely at the pictures and feel free to ask questions. The speedster is listed locally and I reserve the right to end this auction early if the selling price is obtained.I will assist buyers shipping agent in loading if necessary but the car is FOB my address and all shipping responsibilities and costs are the buyers. Please ask any and all questions prior to auction end to make sure it is what you want.Model A Ford hot rod street rod rat rod speedster custom
