1971 Ford Torino Pro-Touring build
Description
Up for sale is my 1971 Ford Torino. My plan was to build a pro touring car, but plans change so I'm offering it up for auction. The good:Body is solid, but it did live in the Midwest for a while so has some scale on the undercarriage. I would clean it up and undercoat it... No holes anywhere that I've found.Interior is nice. Has a couple of small tears in door panels but seats, headliner, etc. are good.Wilwood discs at all corners and Wilwood manual master cylinder and prop valve. Lines are new as well.Rear suspension is Detroit Speed coil over set-up originally designed for a Mustang but professionally installed by Precision Designs in Denver. They did all of the fab work and install including the rear end, brakes, suspension, etc.9" rear with new posi and 3:89 r&p with 31 spline moly axles.Rear end has been narrowed a couple of inches for wheel and tire clearance.Wheels are 18" in the front and 19" in the rear and made by Boze Forged.Tires are 245/40 R18 and 275/35R19 they do not rub now, but the rear did initially so the rear was narrowed a bit more. There are some spots in the rear tires from rubbing previously.Transmission shifts very well and does not slip. 351 Cleveland is a 2V but has an Edelbrock 4V manifold and 1406 carb. Motor has Hedman headers and Flowmaster mufflers.MSD distributor, wires, and coil. Engine always starts on the first try and runs great, but does puff a little smoke from one bank sometimes. Hideaway headlights work perfectly.Shaker hood shakes nicely at stop lights. All lights work but original AM radio does not.Body is solid and paint is good. It's cruiser, daily driver quality.
The Bad:Bumpers need rechromed and front bumper may need straightening. You can see in pics that it looks too long...There is a crack in the paint behind the right rear wheel. I assume this is from a previous repair.Minor door dings, rock chips, etc. in paint. Engine and Trans both have leaks. Not major, and I was planning a Coyote swap so didn't bother fixing them.Car was an A/C car but the compressor and brackets were removed, along with the condenser. Heater works great though!Interior carpet is sun faded in spots. Not really noticeable in the pics though.
This car runs and drives very well! The rear suspension makes a huge difference in handling, and the car stays flat and positive in corners. The brakes work well, it's a fun car to cruise as-is, but is a great start to a Pro-touring car. Add your EFI motor and your modern front suspension, and you're done.It gets more attention than any car I've ever had.
I have tons of pics and will answer any questions ASAP.I also have receipts for all work done by Precision Designs.
I can assist with loading the car at my location but shipping is your responsibility.
