Description

1965 Thunderbird Special Landau Edition With Landau Roof

1965 ford thunderbird 10th Anniversary Special Landau Edition, 1 of 4500 ever made. Original Ford 390 Cubic Inch Engine with 4 barrel carburetor. As far as I know this is the original motor. The car exterior is Emberglo, a new and special color for this car in 1965. The interior is parchment.
The reason for sale: It has taken too long and the costs are more than I wanted to spend at this time
I bought this car in November of 2016 for $5,200.00. I now have approximately $8,900.00 invested. The body looks very solid on this car with the exception of the rocker panels, and a some light surface rust where the paint has been chipped (like this when I bought it). Also, the skirts are in great shape, but I can't get them to fit quite right. The chrome is decent with some pitting and rust, the top looks good. I think the interior looks very nice, looks like the carpet was recently replaced and I found receipts where the upholstery was redone. I did need to spray some of the parts I bought so they matched interior and they came out very nice.
The car runs pretty good, but recently, had an idling issue that was solved by a carburetor rebuild. Here are a few of the things I have done since I bought it.
Engine
New starter and solenoid, new water pump, thermostat and fan clutch, new power steering pump, new valve seals, breather cap and valve cover gaskets, new plugs and wires (car was switched to an electronic ignition before I bought it, so no points or condenser), new rotor and distributor cap, repaired windshield washer pump and lines. This car does have some oil leaks, I have not even tried to figure out where they are coming from.
Cosmetically, there were a number of items that were just plane missing, so I purchased them to try and finish the car from an appearance standpoint:
Sun visors, floor mats, new headlight switch, new retro sound radio with blue tooth and USB port, new window switches ( for some reason the back to windows are not working, but both fronts do work), fixed courtesy lights, clock and power antenna (opera lights do not work, one is not there, looks like it might be covered up by the headliner, not sure), I do have a new headliner that has not be installed, both kick panels, console panels and chrome trim, trunk weather stripping has been replaced, new trunk liner not installed yet. I have replaced the steering wheel, but still have the original.
The previous owner told me he did the following to the car:
Valve cover gaskets were replaced and returns cleaned
New upper & lower rad. hoses and belts
new thermostat gasket and antifreeze
new front calipers and brake hoses
new rear brake hoses & brake booster
2 rear wheel cylinders
Complete transmission server & oil change and filter
tail shaft seal
rear end serviced, axels pulled complete ring & pinion
cleaned and packed from wheel bearings
new plugs wires cap rotor and timed
new fuel line tank to pump
R/f strut rod bushing
l/f & r/f control arm bar with bushing
rebuilt steering column & new neutral safety switch
new starter & cable, alternator and voltage regulator
alignment
