Description

1931 Ford Model A "slant windshield" Town sedan. The slant windshield sedan is a 1931-only body style, easily identified by its slanted windshield and lack of an exterior visor like the earlier models. The two tone Gray paint combination is a very classy understated and elegant look, particularly with the black fenders which were standard across the board. This all original Sedan shows off it's beautiful and graceful age with no apologies needed. People always seem to find to the time to stop and chat when you have this girl out on the town. The all Original Herringbone patterned, Sand colored fabric upholstery is in incredible condition for an unrestored classic, true it is showing its age but, still in most untorn condition it is amazing. The Town Sedan offers room for five and these sedans make for wonderful tour cars with their all-weather capabilities and comfort. The seats are still comfortable so you can get in and start driving right away. Matching door panels offer a cohesive look and the bright door hardware is in good shape with no broken handles. The controls will be familiar to any Model A owner, with a big hard rubber steering wheel and 3-speed manual transmission that feels natural in your hands. The round speedometers and more ornate instrument panels are standard, and this one includes both an accessory temperature gauge and a turn signal setup attached to the steering column. Ford's 200 cubic inch four cylinder factory Overdrive engine is all about torque, and the over-achieving little machine makes a distinctive sound that's been beloved for generations. It happily pulls the sedan around without working too hard and cruises at 45 MPH, so it's not a problem on modern surface streets. This one has years of reliable service behind it, so it runs like a Model A should. The engine is correctly dressed in green engine enamel and with cloth wiring, The head looks like it was replaced or painted in silver, a Zenith carburetor, and with those copper strip leads for the spark plugs, it is quite impressive and authentic. This is a 6 VOLT system as originally built, and the 3-speed manual transmission shifts cleanly with a quick double-clutch and the brakes are effective for a vehicle with modest performance and light weight. This vehicle comes with all original 19-inch wheels including the side mounted spare and nice wide white-walls. Though they are starting to show some signs of age ( light cracking from drying-out in California heat ), they do make modern sturdy replicas from Coker Tires should you want or need to upgrade them. The current owner states he believes he is the third owner but there may have been a forth. The current owner is a Master Mechanic with decades of experience, and has this vehicle working in mechanically sound condition. Any other issues are cosmetic - both inside and outside of the vehicle. Those cosmetic issues are documented in the photos but I will mention them here as well. Light surface rust undercarriage and throughout the body seams but no cancer or rust throughs. Surface rust on the seams of the body, and undercarriage. Front and rear floor pans are in excellent condition. Repairs needed: Top / roof fabric need restoration at the edges, Front window top hinge rubber needs repair. Rubber foot mats on the running boards are missing, Interior rear rubber flooring is missing but easy to find at, Water stains/marks are visible on original seating and door fabric ( might be removable, no attempt has been made to test ) but again, easy to replace. Window rubber is worn age appropriately.
