The 1971 Ford F100 4X4 High Boy V8 4Speed, Mechanically Restored and Ready forFun

Included with the sale of this truck is the official Marti Report spec’ing it as a real 4X4 built in Kansas City and has been in Montana 99 percent of its life. Dry and mostly rust free original condition

The list of repairs and parts is long so here we go.

The original 360 was rebuilt, stroked with a polished and chamfered standard size journal 390 crank and bored .060 for a total of 401 Cubic Inches.

This engine was completely rebuilt with all new bearings, cam, lifters, double roller timing chain, freeze plugs, pistons, reconditioned rods on both ends with ARP bolts, heads had a complete valve job with new springs and seals, the main oil passage was enlarged and chamfered for increased oil flow, balanced and blueprinted all by professional mechanics. Clutch disc is new and the pressure plate was also balanced with the engine. The original Motorcraft 2bbl carburetor was rebuilt and upgraded to an electric choke. The HEI type distributor is new as well as spark plugs and wires.

This engine starts with the touch of the key and runs smooth and perfect. Clutch operation is smooth with the new throwout and pilot bearings in place.

A new three core all aluminum radiator built for the 390 engine keeps it nice and cool. All hoses and heater core are new. The heater controls, box and blower were repaired at this time and working properly.

The original 4 speed transmission shifts nicely with a tight pattern and smooth synchro’s.

The Dana in and out only transfer case works properly along with the lockout hubs.

The heavy duty 9” rear end has had new seals and the front Dana 44 High Pinion differential also has had new seals and wheel bearings installed.

The OEM heavy duty rear springs and the new correct High Boy Moog front springs were obtained and installed for this trucks great, straight and proud stance. It also rides very nice.

The brakes are a list of new parts to include;

Master Cylinder

Wheel Cylinders

All flexible hoses

Shoes

All Hardware

4 new Drums

Complete Park Brake System was replicated to OEM specs by Inline Tube.

The brake system works great, including the park brake, it is ready for many more serviceable years.

The steering column was rebuilt with all new switches, bushings and bearings. Very smooth and the horn works great.

Lighting and electrical are all in great working condition including backup, interior, dash, brake, turn, parking, headlights, wiper/ washer system and instrumentation. Radio inoperable.

Fuel tank was in great condition and a new filter installed.

Exhaust system consists of reconditioned original parts with and a new turbo muffler and tailpipe exiting out the side. Sounds good.

As seen in the pictures and on the Marti Report the truck has 5 of the original 16” wheels including the chassis mounted spare. Original jack and components also mounted correctly.

The interior was cleaned, new headliner and shift boots were installed. The dash pad and gauge cluster are in wonderful shape as are the factory installed seat belts.

Rear window glass and gasket are new, with the side glass being very nice and the windshield very serviceable with only minor scratches on passenger side.

As far as rust on the truck, the chassis and under carriage are virtually rust free as is the beautiful repurposed Ford box and tailgate from rust free Colorado. The cab and front clip are also in great shape. The rockers and cab corners are very solid with only some rust in the floor board under the foot area (snow in Montana) easily repaired. Fenders, doors and hood very solid. Doors open and close effortlessly and solid.

As stated earlier the easy starting, smooth running Ford FE 401CI engine moves it with authority. It drives out fine with no rattles clangs or bangs and will come to a quick, smooth, straight and easy stop.

We have many pictures of the engine build and receipts. Also many pics of the chassis, any rust and all panels from the underside.

It is ready for fun and do with the solid predominantly rust free body as you wish. A true classic that will only go up in value in the future. Have fun and build equity at the same time.

Just how many real Ford ½ Ton 4X4’s of this era survived when not a lot were produced?

Please feel free to ask any questions or for more pictures.
