Description
Selling one very sweet truck - 1974 Ford F-250 4x4 with new Cummins conversion, done by pros and many upgrades like power steering
and power brakes
that you don't get in a 74'. I have much invested and never intended to sell, but life happens. I tried an auction but it did not hit the reserve, so giving it one more chance here on ebay. Many old Fords come and go but they are not all the same, maybe this one is what you have been looking for...Motor has less than 6k miles - rebuilt out of a 95 dodge with a stick shift, and all the work was done by the professionals at DFI (http://www.dfiperformance.biz/), not hacked together in my home garage. These guys actually know what they are doing, here are some of the things they did:
- rebuilt 5.9L 12V CUMMINS, 180hp- Bd Super B turbo, turned the pump and set timing at 16degrees- installed 3k governor springs in pump- ARP head studs and new head gasket, BD exhaust manifold- rebuilt Trans - Reman C6 W heavy converter- new radiator, fan, Alternator etc
See it start up here: https://youtu.be/Gi8oROOASB8
- Replaced front end with king pin dana 60 open knuckle out of a 78-79 Ford- New power steering & power brakes on front - 78 Ford 3/4 Ton steering box (reman new)- new steering arms/sleeves, new front 3.54 gear sets- B&M Mega shifter - 3 speed manual- Relined gas tank- insulated and relined floor- New Batteries (today)
Check out the front end work here.
Body is in good condition though it does have some minor scratches and chips, and it's own old truck nuances and quirks. This truck has been a steady work horse and daily driver in both the city and on the farm and is ready to do your bidding, but it is not perfect. I got a good start and it is just waiting to be restored to full glory. Some notable things:
- some small rust spots on body, places that have gotten chipped, some rust where front quarter panel connect inside.- back door/handle got hit when I bought it and has minor damage. Still usable but is slightly dented and sticks.- right front body panel looks like it was repaired at some time, the repair is now slightly noticeable up close- Truck bed has a durable, heavy duty rubber liner, but with a few small spots that have torn- passenger door needs extra little push (minor mechanical fix) and panel is worn and feels a little loose, both inner panels could be replaced- could use new rubber gaskets around doors- hood sits a tad high, happened during engine swap
(minor mechanical fix)- needs antenna- speedometer needs calibrating- tires are in great shape, many miles left- comes with heavy duty multi ball hitch (not shown)
I shouldemphasisthat this is a3 speed Manual
, and because of the gearing it tops out at about 70mph. It's fun to shift, has a lot of low end and is very quick, and where I drive in Oregon I don't think about it because there is no need to go faster, but for some folks it may be an issue. This is truly a unique truck, turning heads everywhere I go and drives and handles amazingly well. You will get many questions and high fives. I hope it finds a new home and owner who appreciates it as much as I have and continues to maintain and improve it.
