Description

Shed Find... 1966 Ford Custom Police Car. After talking with a gentleman from California that does the 66 and before full size ford registry for these cars...we have come to the conclusion that this car is an Ex Police Car... After he told me what to look for and all the tattletale signs are there. And research shows that thisis the Cruiser option Caras one of 5 ford optioned fleet cars for the police force. Had a friend point out the number 67 that is under the passenger side headlight on the filler panel this last week, I found the hole in the roof for the light, a hole in the A pillar for the spot light, a hole in the top right rear quarter panel for the CB antenna and holes in the dash for the Mic hanger and holes in the trans tunnel where the base mount held the 2 way Radio. Also noticed sticker residue on the left and right side of odometer which was probably the Calibration stickers. Increments on the speedo are in 2 mph. The car is also a radio delete and noticed there are no door jam switch buttons for the overhead dome light. options are... Z code Factory 390 4V with the C6AE-R code heads... tall port, and the 3 speed heavy duty trans with 3 on the tree, 9'' rear with 350.1 ratio, Dual pulley set up on alternator, 3/4'' sway bar. Has no power options so its all Horse power. Manual brakes, Manual steering, Factory Dual Exhaust. The really great part of this car is it only has 78000 original miles. Vintage plates from 1963 with tags of 1974 being the last time it was driven and the car came from Jackson Motors of Walla Walla Washington from what I have been told....That's about 10,000 miles a year from 1966 to 1974. This car is around 95% original right down to 2 original 15'' wheels and all 4 povertyhubcaps. Only missing trim is the drivers side Headlight Bezel, one headlight ring, 2 letters on trunk lid. Only changes I could see is that it was repainted Green over the original Medium Blue Metalic... but then it was Gray primed or light blue paint over the green. I took off the original Fomoco Carb and put a rebuild kit in and reinstalled, also has fresh oil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor... She fired right up and sounds solid...water pump has a little bearing noise.'' Now the Bad '' The back window has been broken out for who knows how long and the back floor foot wellarea of the pans do have some rust....front pans feel solid but I'm sure they might have some surface pitting. Brakes were just gone through and all hardware and shoes look pretty fresh... So I just dusted off the drums with media and repainted, made sure all parts move freely and cylinders work.... but they still need bled. Added some newer style centerline wheels with nice tires so I could drive the car... the trans works great and drives decent... Tons of power!!! Pressure plate is a little weak with some typical 3 speed chatter but does not slip. Still has the original C7 coded mufflers from Ford and original Ford logo headlights. Also found some other holes in post pillar area behind drivers seat that could have been some sort of holder for a shot gun or who knows what ? ... if you know... please tell me! Also has some holes on the inner drivers fender tray area for the Siren horn possibly. Only body rust is in the RR Lower quarter ... Car has a Clean Title.
