Description

1949FordCOEF6 Custom Car Hauler
This is a 49 Ford COE custom built from ground up by the folks at Devious Custom of Southern California. Great work truck or promotional piece. Front clip, dually axle, 454 big block, tranny and rear end is all from a late model low milage chevy dually. There is an overdrive installed but the installation is not complete. The engine runs great and has had the fuel injection replaced with a carburetor to keep things simple. Wheels have been recently polished and tires have very low millage on them.
The chassis is made of all heavy steel construction with airbags front and rear. It would drop chassis to ground but safety stops have been welded into place to give a couple inches of clearance. It uses AccuAir E-Level air controller and twin Viair pumps and 3 tanks. Engine is mid mounted behind the cab with easy access via a steel door. Brand new aluminum radiator and electric fan keeps it cool on parade routes. Huge custom aluminum gas tank behind the engine with working original fuel access still behind passenger door. New twin deep cycle batteries mounted between engine and fuel tank.
This is a true hauler, build specifically to haul cars and look cool doing it. There are 4 tie downs installed with diamond plate on the sides and access panels down the middle. Removable side guards/signs are included and come in and out easily. Bed length on the flat part is13' but then it angles down and it's another 3' 4" for a total of 16' 4". It's 8 ' wide and if you leave the signs on the side it's 87" between them. Under the back hatch is a access to the air tanks and pumps as well as storage for the two ramps, which have not been made to this date. This truck has never hauled a car. There are two steel tool boxes on the sides of the truck flush mounted.
Rear fenders are steel, original 49 F4 truck fenders highly modified to fit and dual brake lights are sunk in for a flush look. Behind the license plate is a concealed trailer hitch receiver. Lights run the length of the bed near the ground for a cool look at night.
Firewall has been pushed forward for extra foot room and the billet tilt steering column makes this truck easy to drive. The seat has been widened to give maximum space for driver and passenger and has new upholstery. 3 lap seat belts are installed. I do have the small side door panel covers yet to be installed. All new glass has been installed. No carpet or headliner has been installed yet. The truck cab itself is VERY straight, free of rust and all original chrome molding is in tact. I am told I am only the 3rd owner, it was originally used as personal water truck in Grand Canyon for the owner who did not have a well or water access due to his location in the desert.
This COE is fun and it runs great. We have used it for several years to promote our local hobby shop and raceway, it just goes to car shows and parades and thats it. It's time to move on and let someone else use this truck for what it was designed to do. The paint is primer with a blue tint and you will notice in most pictures it's starting to fade. A couple of the pictures are when it was first painted, just so you know what it can look like. Soon we will list more pictures and a video on our Exeter Hobbies website. For more details and more pictures please contact us and we will get back to you. The truck is located in Exeter Ca, which is between Bakersfield and Fresno and available for viewing 7 days a week.
