1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL in original unmolested condition, a true survivor!
Description
Wow, what we have up for auction today is a highly optioned 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL in a beautiful bright red finish! This car was found down in southern Indiana in a garage in excellent condition needing some freshening up that we have done to make it the super clean car you see in the pictures. This car came from Ford in white and sports the bright red refinish it is currently wearing. It is a true XL and has MANY options that make it so rare. Options include POWER WINDOWS, power door locks, a POWER DRIVER SEAT, power steering, power brakes, the Z code 390 4V motor (second largest only to the amazing 427), automatic transmission, a remote driver mirror, the DELUXE bucket seat XL interior which has special rear seats and door panels. We have added a retro deluxe stereo that does not cut the dash but adds digital AM/FM along with MP3 and IPhone and IPod capabilities. Two new speakers were added as well and the stereo sounds great! My favorite option which is also rare is the precursor to tilt steering. I have always been told this is called "Fat man roll away steering wheel" the complete steering wheel and column "rolls" away to the right making entry and exit easier! Find another one! Lastly, it has the upgrade spinner style XL hub caps (these are hard to find!)
So as far as the freshening that was done, here is a list of what has been done in the last 30 days to bring the car up to specs: All fluids were changed, the power brake booster is new, battery is new, all brakes are new, wheel bearings, u-Joints, true dual exhaust with new chrome tips, washer pump and bag, new front coil springs, all new stainless steel brake lines, and brand new tires. This car boasts that EVERYTHING works! All lights including back up lights, all interior lights, the window mechanisms were all taken apart, cleaned, lubed, and adjusted! Even the trunk light (what? a trunk light in a 64? yes!) works as new. This car runs and drives like a dream and can be driven anywhere. This car is mostly original with only 76K miles! YES 76K miles. It has NOT been restored! The lower quarter panels on the rear have been replaced at some point and an excellent job was done repairing those two areas. Also there are two "patches" in the trunk. Both left and right sides and the patches are about 4" x 4". This is another common area that rusts in these cars. This car has the original floors boards that are in excellent condition! This is a very very nice car that was highly optioned from the factory and WELL cared for! Drive it home or set up shipping. We may be able to help set up shipping of the car at your expense.
