We perform resto mods / speed shop services for Mustangs from 64-17, this is one of my personal cars, my beloved Fox Body is my favorite....even above my Cobra & Mach I, something truly special about the now CLASSIC FOX!
I am the ORIGINAL Owner of this car, and I love it TODAY more than the day I purchased the car back in the summer of 1987, 24 AUG. I care deeply about HONOR and INTEGRITY, so with this said I will make the commitment to you that my description of this car will be very detailed, lengthy, and most certainly accurate. This is a TOUGH decision for me to place this ride up for sale, but my health has forced me to do so. I want this car to go to someone who will KEEP the car for a long time, like I have for 30+ plus years....and who knows if by some miracle I beat the odds, maybe, just maybe one day I will look to try to buy her back!
The car to this day runs much stronger than the day I bought it, and has lost nothing in the performance. In fact, I have run against new 5.0 Coyotes and taken far more of them, than I have lost. On paper this Fox Body seems out gunned and most people would think it has little chance a hanging with today's highly technologically advanced high horsepower pony cars, but they would be sadly mistaken :). This car runs strong, and handles much better than most Fox Body Mustangs, for it can surprise many. She is not perfect, but she is a strong sweet Classic Fox Body.

CAR CAN BE TAKEN WITH CONFIDENCE FOR A LONG DISTANCE TRIP OVER 700-1500 MILES AND KNOW THAT IT WILL GET 360-385 MILES ON A TANK OF GAS, 15.4 GALLON TANK...THAT IS WHAT 2.73 REAR GEARS WILL GIVE YOU, WHILE STILL ALLOWING THIS CAR TO RUN 150+ MILES PER HOUR ON A ROAD COURSE! THIS CAR HAS DONE 157 MPH, WITH WHAT I WILL GUESS WAS MAYBE ANOTHER 10-15 LEFT IN HER. She will also run 12.95s to 13.20, & between 105-110mph in the 1/4 mile.**. ** Manual Windows, Manual Locks, Smog Pump Delete, etc
WHAT IT NEEDS:#1 GOOD HOME WITH A NEW OWNER WHO UNDERSTANDS AND APPRECIATES THE FOX BODY MUSTANG 5.0L. THESE ARE THE CARS THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHY WE STILL HAVE MUSTANGS TODAY...AS FORD WAS GOING TO REPLACE THE MUSTANG IN 87 WITH THE PROBE!!!
#2 CAR PRESENTS WELL FROM THE EXTERIOR BUT IT IS TIME FOR A NEW PAINT JOB. CAR WAS PAINTED IN 2001 THE FACTORY MEDIUM CABERNET RED IN THE "MONCHROMATIC" STYLE WHEREAS THE NORMAL BLACK MOLDINGS WHERE PAINTED THE SAME COLOR AS THE CAR....IT DOES TWO THINGS, GIVES THE CAR A CHOPPED LOOK, SMALLER WINDOW APPEARANCE AND IT REALLY PROTECTS THE REAR QTR WINDOW MOLDING SO PRONE TO DETERIORATION. THE CAR HAS SOME HOOD DINGS FROM HAIL MORE THAN ONCE OVER THE LAST 17 YEARS SINCE IT WAS LAST PAINTED. THE FRONT BUMPER COVER HAS CLEAR COAT PEEL, AND NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED... IF SOMEONE WANTED TO JUST DO THAT, IT WOULD COST ABOUT $200-$250 TO JUST FRESHEN THAT UP...THEN DRIVE THE CAR AND ENJOY IT TILL YOU WERE READY TO REPAINT THE ENTIRE RIDE. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE WELL, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO....which I do every 3 years due to the sun bake all these lights are known for.
#3 CAR COULD USE RACK LIMITERS INSTALLED, OR MOVE BACK TO A 225/60/15 TIRES IN THE FRONT TO PREVENT TIRE RUB DUE TO BEING LOWERED SO MUCH.THE CAR IS LOW, BUT IT HANDLES SO WELL AS IS.
#3 ENGINE RUNS STRONGER THAN MANY TFS, EDELBROCK, AFR HEADED 5.0Ls I have owned, built, and driven. The car has over 383,000 miles on the ORIGINAL ENGINE, SAME OIL PUMP, SAME E7 HEADS, SAME SPRINGS, 1.6 ROCKERS, SAME FACTORY FORGED CRANK, FORGED PISTONS & RODS..... It is BOTH a testament to just how well these cars really were made, for what they are and how well i have taken care of my coveted Fox. I have changed the oil RELIGIOUSLY IN THE CAR ALWAYS BETWEEN 3,000-6,000 MILES USING ONLY FULLY SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL, USUALLY MOBIL 1 10W-30, WITH SLICK 50 ADDITIVE EVERY 15,000 MILES.***** THE CAR DOES NOT SMOKE AT ALL, NO APPEARANCE OF RING WEAR OR EXCESSIVE BLOWBY WHATSOEVER***** I EXPECT THIS CAR IF I WERE TO KEEP IT TO MAKE IT WELL OVER 500,000 MILES! Note, where I have run the car on the track, I have only done so a small number of times relative to it's age. The car has seen about 40-50 passes on the track in 30 years...most of them coming since 2008 to as recent as 2014. the car would see 6-8 passes, one time it saw 11 runs at an event. Most of it's life it has been a highway cruiser, not daily traffic, but 200-400 mile trips from MD, PA, NY, FL, GA, TN, N, SC, MS, AL, VA, WV, OK, AR, etc. This car has been to California & Texas and back...NEVER ONE TIME HAS SHE LEFT ME ON THE ROADSIDE.. SO MUCH FOR THOSE CHEVY GUYS AND THEIR CRACKS....
Car will use about 1 quart of oil every 1,500 miles or so. It has some "oozing" of oil around the rear mail seal, front seal, and back of valve covers...BUT I HAVE A WHITE CONCRETE DRIVEWAY AND IT DOES NOT DRIP DOWN AND STAIN IT. I would say drive the car, and enjoy it, eventually when the time comes to rebuild the motor, then the time for the repaint too can be addressed.
