Description

1972 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT - Camper Special

This is VIN# F25HRP47025, built on the 13th of July 1972. It was a special order truck, and is in original un-restored condition. It is a remarkable example, highly optioned, rust free and very low original mileage, approximately 46,390 miles currently on the odometer. The complete history is known on this truck. The original owner ordered the truck to be used with a camper mounted on the bed, for his families’ yearly outing to a favorite campsite in the mountains outside of Salt Lake City. It was driven less than one thousand miles per year for the first 31 years of its life, then the second owner, who I bought the truck from, a former boyfriend of the girl who’s father originally ordered the truck, bought the truck in 2003, it had not been driven since 1993. It was lifted and stored during the years from 1993 to 2003. This truck is totally rust free and sports its original paint except for a re-spray of the hood (it faded over the years) and around the fuel filler cap, the passenger sidedoor has had some repair but it seems very minor and fixed appropriately, other than that there are a few places that have had very minor paint touch-up work, all done by the original owner. All of the moldings and trim are original, the dash (remarkably crack free) and interior is as it left the factory right down to the AM radio.

When the truck was purchased by the 2nd owner it had only ever seen a mechanic for service, the 2nd owner did some work on the truck such as installing a new cam, lifters, true-roller timing set, intake, 4-bbl (original carb and parts convey with the truck), headersand a new exhaust, these upgrades greatly improved the truck’s performance and overall drive-ability.

A description of the truck is as follows:

A Letter from Ford Customer Service Division will convey with the truck setting forth the original specifications and optional equipment at the time of manufacture. One of the interesting anomalies to the build sheet is that the color is specified wrong, it was common that as the vehicles were going down the assembly line, that adjustments were made according to the model being built, and this just shows how Ford made these adjustments and they were never recorded properly, it is also a Camper Special with XLT trim, this does not show on the build sheet either. It is obvious when inspecting this truck that it has never been altered in any way, it is as it left the factory. When I purchased the truck I removed the original split rims (dangerous) and installed a nice set of forged Center Line wheels - the original hub capsconvey with the truck, these Center Line Forged wheels and and Toyo Open Country tires - with less than 2000 miles on them - greatly improves the look of the truck…everything including the owners manual and original keys comes with the truck. So, from the factory the truck was fitted as follows:

F25 F-250, Styleside Pick-up

H 390 CID, 8 – Cylinder @V Engine

R Manufactured at the San Jose Assembly Plant

P47025 Consecutive Unit Number

Produced on July 13, 1972 with the following options:

·131” Wheelbase

Bright Asrtra Blue – Accent Color (changed on the assembly line to 3-tone Sequoia Brown Metallic/Wimbledon White paint combination to meet the order specifications; this is the only explanation of the color not matching the certificate from Ford…from what I understand a common occurrence).

·Black - Interior trim

·5100 lbs – GVWR

·Sliding rear window

·Tool Storage Box

·4.10 Dana 60 Non-Limited Slip Rear Axel Ratio

It has had the following upgrades (recent):

Ford cast iron “S” – intake

·Holley 600 CFM carb

·Hedman Headers

·Magnaflow muffler

·3” single exhaust

·Dual batteries

·Transmission cooler

Dual brake master cylinder - brakes have all been redone within the last 400 miles

Power steering pump

All of the belts, hoses and ignition parts are Motorcraft, including the oil filter. When the 2nd owner purchased the truck 8 years ago it still had the factory installed spark plug wires, these have been replaced. All of the shocks were replaced in 2007. The truck has a unique non-factory spare tire lift system that was built by the original owner, very cool and similarto the system widely used today to lift the spare up under the rear of the truck bed. It also has a non-factory coolant recovery system, transmission cooler, class 5 trailer hitch and a 7-pin connector. It has the sought after and popular Camper Special Package, sliding rear window, bed storage box, HD cooling and charging system, holds close to 50 gallons of fuel when both tanks are full. The second owner told me it has, contrary to the Ford Certificate (GVW...GVWR?), the heaviest GVW rating available at the time of 8100 pounds; with ¾ of a tank of gas it weighs 4980 pounds giving it a load capacity of 3120 pounds. It was also ordered with the XLT package and did I say the interior is 100% original and untouched right down to the AM radio and the plastic carpet covering, amazing - have a look at the pictures of the carpet, it is stunning how good condition they are in. It is a remarkable and very collectible truck. I do not like the idea of parting with such a beautiful truck, but I’mletting all of my toys go, children in College, you know thestory. It is always parked in a heated and insulated garage. It is an amazing original Ford F-250 Ranger XLT - Camper Special, has a wonderful patina and it is an unmolested piece of automotive history.

They're only original once, this oneis amazing in everyrespect, inspection is a must to truly appreciate and the value of such apiece of automotive history and should be respected when you bid, good luck.
