1969 Fairlane 500 Survivor car. One owner 45 years!
Description
For your consideration is this all original 1969 Fairlane 500. I purchased this vehicle from the original owner just a few years ago. I have all of the original paperwork from when the car sold new in December of 68. This is a well documented, unmolested original car with good Pedigree. All original paint, all original interior and all original drivetrain. Rarely do you find them in this condition anymore.
The car was in covered storage when I purchased it, and has been stored indoors in my shop since I purchased it. The odometer shows 82k original miles. The original owner parked it in 1998 after it would not start. I diagnosed this to be a neutral safety switch and the car started right up. The original 302 runs like a sewing machine. Smooth and quiet. No smoke, no noise, no surprises. The automatic Trans shifts as it should through all the gears. Due to the car had sat for some time, I put a new master cylinder and new wheel cylinders and brake hoses up front to ensure it is up to safety standards, although they could use another bench bleed. I also flushed the cooling system and added all new hoses and radiator cap. Fresh oil & filter was also obviously done. I did not however, update the tires. The car has original 1970's vintage Sears Dynaglass tires on it that are NOT safe to drive any significant distance. I have driven the car locally on surface streets up to 60mph, but as noted, the tires will need replaced. The car has manual brakes and manual steering so you get an authentic 1960's driving experience!
There is ZERO cancer in this car. We do not use salt onthe raods in Washington State, so this car is solid. It has very light surface rust at the bottom of the quarters & fenders that a ScotchBrite pad could remedy. Per the original owner, the car has never been in an accident, however the molding on the leading edge of the hood was damaged when the owners second car rolled rearward and struck the hood, thus it has a very slight misalignment. The vinyl top shows well, but is starting to shrink away from the trim at the rear window. The car retains the original date coded Carlite glass, however the windshield is cracked.
The cloth interior is flawless. The front and rear seats are mint. The door panels are excellent and the headliner is intact. The dash is flawless! Not even one crack. Although the interior appears black, it's actually a very dark green, as factory equipped. Speaking of factory equipped, the car has an optional Remote Mirror and rear seat speaker that works, as does the original dash speaker. All of the gauges and lighting equipment works as it should. 95% of the brightwork on this car shows very well.
All in all, this is a beautiful example of a true Survivor Car that needs nothing other than modern tires and someone who wants to drive the wheels off it.
