1993 Ford Mustang LX 5.0

Description

Up for sale is my 1993 Ford Mustang LX 5.0. I purchased the car in March 2009. At that time, the car was located near Columbia, South Carolina. Originally, this was a Florida car. The car has been garaged since I purchased. The car had 147,500 miles at the time of my purchase. Currently, the mileage is approximately 156,184. I have always changed the oil with a Ford FL-1A filter and Castrol 10W-30 oil every 3,000 miles, or annually. The filter and oil was just changed. I hate to part with this car, but need to make room in the garage.

A full list of parts I have installed is shown at the bottom of the listing with the price I paid (excluding taxes, shipping & handling fees) which adds up to over $8000. I have all but several receipts which will be included with the car.

The car runs and drives great with no known problems (see list of minor issues below). All features on the car functions as they should. To my knowledge the car has never been any accidents. Most (if not all) of the original VIN stickers are still on the body panels.

Since I have owned a K&N air filter, 24 lb/hr fuel injectors, mass air flow sensor and body, and 3G alternator are several upgrades under the hood. An aluminum radiator has been installed and the stock fan has been replaced with a 1996 Ford Taurus electric fan utilizing a Volvo 2-speed fan relay and BMW dual temperature switch. The exhaust consists of BBK shorty chrome headers, a BBK H-pipe with catalytic convertors, Flowmaster mufflers and chrome tailpipes. A Tremec 3550 TKO 5-speed transmission (26-spline input shaft) has been installed, with a Ford Racing steel flywheel, Centerforce II clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter and Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft. The rear end gears and bearings were professionally installed using a Ford Racing kit with 3.55:1 ring and pinion. The correct speedometer drive gear is installed for this gearing and tire size. The brakes have been upgraded to 94-04 Mustang Cobra brakes using all the proper components. 94-95 Mustang front spindles are installed. The rear axles were replaced with 5-Lug Yukon axles stock length and are 28-spline. The wheels have been upgraded with 17x9 FR500 wheels with 245/45/17 front tires and 275/40/17 rear tires. A 94-04 Cobra spare tire/wheel is included in order to fit the larger brakes. The door, hatch, and glovebox lock cylinders have been replaced and match the same key. The alpine stereo is equipped for SiriusXM Satellite radio and is ready to be activated. Several broken, missing, or damaged interior, exterior, and weatherstrip pieces have been replaced. Most of the upgrades were done in 2015, except for the tires and brakes done in 2009-2010.

Prior to my ownership the following components were installed/replaced and I have little knowledge about other than what can physically be seen by looking at the car:

• BBK chrome shorty headers, Flowmaster mufflers and chrome tailpipes
• Front and rear struts/shocks
• Ford Racing Lowering Springs
• O2 sensors
• Ford OEM front headlight lenses
• Window tint
• Smog pump was removed and I do not have the parts
  
• Car was repainted the original calypso green color
• Alpine CD stereo head unit, dash speakers, door speakers, rear speakers. I installed SiriusXM satellite radio modules.
• Viper car alarm and keyless entry

The Bad:

• Scratch on passenger fender near front of wheel opening (see picture).
• Several small paint chips on the hood and one at top of the windshield (see pictures).
• Hairline crack in paint near driver lock cylinder (see picture).
• The window tint is an old job and has faded somewhat. Scratches and scuffs can be seen from the inside. It looks OK from the outside.
• There is a small rust spot near the passenger door hinges (see picture). This is the only rust found on the car.
• The A/C works well, but the wiring does not have a bypass switch so that the fan runs with the A/C turned on. If the fan is not running the system can over pressurize and the relief valve will open causing refrigerant to leak out. You need to either be driving (not sitting idled) or make sure the car is up to temp with the fan running. I will include the original fan, clutch and shroud if you want it.
  
• The tires are not new but there is still some good tread left.
• For reasons not known the driver door was replaced (VIN sticker does not match). Someone may have broken into the car at some point damaging the lock cylinder mounting hole or the door was dented bad prior to the repaint. Just my best guess.
• The sunvisor mirror lights do not work and mirror cover flaps are missing.
• Rear quarter glass molding has wear and cracking (normal problem area on Fox Body Mustangs) (see pictures).
• The previous owner installed aftermarket speakers. The door speakers do not have grilles and are missing the factory speaker grilles (see pictures).
• There is normal/minor wear on the driver’s seat for this age vehicle (see pictures).
• Check spring that holds passenger door open needs replacement.
• The transmission does not always like to downshift into 3rd gear while the car is moving. When stopped or if you shift in and out of another gear it will go into 3rd. The transmission does not grind when downshifting into 3rd gear. The transmission was used when I bought it and this has been an issue since I installed. The previous owner told me it had 5-6k miles on it.
• The car had a 3.90:1 ring and pinion when purchased. I do not know when or how long the gear was installed. The stock speedometer drive gear was installed resulting in higher than actual speeds and more miles on the odometer than driven. This issue has been corrected.
• I installed white face gauges on the original cluster and replaced it at 155,591 miles with a stock cluster with 144,926 miles to get the original look back. I have put 593 miles on the car since replaced and the odometer currently shows 145,519. The original gauge cluster is included with the car.

The car is sold as-is with no warranty and has a clear Tennessee title.

No sales outside the lower 48.
