Description

This 1949 Ford Club Coupe is not without its faults, but not without its merits also. The car was purchased on 7-21-2011 and was tagged (8-10-2011), insured, and driven ever sense. The car has not been dolled up for your viewing pleasure. It is what it is. Look at the enlarged photos. I have several others or can take any that you want and sent you if you send me your email address. The drivers side floor board has been replaced from front to back with the one piece floor pan and new braces. The right side has been patched at some point and is usable, but I do have a new floor pan for it if you wish to install it. I'm 70 years old with rheumatoid arthritis and just not up to it anymore. The trunk area looks good. See photo. There has been some body work done to the car. I replaced the left side lower finder section and main brace. Some ugly mirrors were removed from both sides and screw holes welded up. Have reproduction Ford period correct mirrors that come with the car. The lake pipes hit the asphalt when the car was unloaded from the carrier and made a dent on the very bottom of the quarter panels on both sides. The right side has been repaired. No rust was seen in this area. A small hole was welded up on both sides on the read quarter panels where someone had installed the trim leading from the tail lights from a 1951 Ford. The rocker panels had been replaced when I purchased the car. I have installed a 7 inch brake booster and dual master cylinder with a distribution valve, residual pressure valves, and a metering valve. All located under neigh the car. A remote reservoir is mounted on the firewall. This system works great. A new fuel tank, 5/16 stainless fuel line, electric fuel pump has been installed. Under the hood is the 239 CID flathead motor. I don't know what if anything has been done to it. It does have an Offenhauser dual intake with two new Stromberg 97 carburetors replacing the leaking Ford Holly 94's. The carburetors have less than 250 miles on them. They have smaller power vales and jets. One has 42 jets the other 38's. Motor run rich at idle but great on the road. They need a little twisting. The old bulky distribution block was removed from the fire wall, holes welded up. I replaced it with the Holly dual outlet low pressure regulator mounted directly to the carburetors. The dual exhaust flows through the old style glass packs with the sweet mellow rumble. The motor does leak oil. The motor starts and run good with the 6 volt electrical system. I had a Chevy distributor built with a mechanical advance by Bubbas Vintage Ignition to replace the old vacuum operated one which doesn't work well with dual carbs. You Ford lovers will have to forgive me for this, but the distributor works great, or you can install the Mallory dual point distributor that comes with the car. The motor runs with around 50 lb. oil pressure cold, around 25 lb. on the road hot, and around 5 lb. at hot idle. Has been this way sense I've owned the car with no problem. Like I said earlier, I drive the car. The car has 1 inch lowering blocks in the front end. It had 2 inch in the rear, but couldn't keep the tag off the asphalt so I removed them. Car has a tight front end drives drive great on the older bias ply Continental tires. Also have new correct door gaskets/seals that come with the car. $500 non-refundable deposit by Paypal.
