Description

1990 number 99
Body
I will try to highlight the flaws. This car gets parked in the garage as well as driven to work a few times a week in the summer. I always keep it waxed and clean but it is not in perfect condition. Ithas been repainted by a previous owner. I have wet sanded and compound buffed it with success. The lower front bumper has been painted with a spray can and some fiberglass filler added to fill a crack in the lower front. I put pictures in that you can clearly see the bumper. The car has one door that is red on the inside behind door panel. I am assuming it was a dented door before. It does have a small amount of rust. The passenger side floor board has a rust spot and i would consider it a small hole and maybe 1.5 inches across. The floorboard is the one area thats rusted and the rest looks good. The underbody of the car was painted flat black when the motor and trans and gas tank were out of the car. There is a small dent on drivers side behind the door area, The car has some scratches.I added a new windshield banner and new smoked 6 pc headlights and new center caps.Engine bay painted with new rivets and bolts when possible. New plastic wire loom when possible as well as neatly ziptied ect with detail.
Interior
The car has the original flofit seats with no rips and they do have fading from the sun. All seats have emblems as they should as well as the lumbar pumps. It comes with a cd player, amp, and 12in subwoofer in back. I also installed new door speakers as well as rear speakers all mtx. I also installed a adjustable shift light which i used at a autocross event . I consider the carpet to be in great condition and has new floormats as of last spring. All the glass all good. I have the saleen shift knob but i prefer the ford one which is mounted now. The drivers side power unlock is broken but will include door lock auctiator part to fix. I intalled anew heatercore last year as well as new evap core and new condensor and all new ac hoses. The ac works great.
Motor-
I rebuilt the motor the spring of 2016 and had a machine shop inspect, bore, and clean block. New pistons at this time. I assembled motor here at home with great attention to detail. Full synthetic Mobil one oil exclusively.Motor runs very strong with no ticks or rattles etc.
T5 trans
I rebuilt the trans in the summer of 2015. The trans was glass bead blasted and painted as well as high temp clear coat paint. The heavy duty 2.95 first gear kit from the gear box trans inc. was installed as well as a master rebuild kit and a billet cluster support plate added. This combo complements the 4.10 rear end gear with the first ratio and final drive. The rpm is 2500 at 70mphA steel steel input shaft added as the factory aluminum one had wear. New pilot bearing and throwout bearing even new clutch fork were also installed.correct speedo gear for 4.10 rearend gear.ford Motorsport aluminum driveshaft with driveshaft loop added
Rearend

added 4.10 ford Motorsport gearkit
new carrier bearings and rear u joints at this timeroyal purple fluid with correct friction modifier

Suspension
The previous owner added lowering springs and i am not sure how much the drop is. the back does rub with 2 people in the car and going over train tracks. However fenders have been rolled from the saleen factory and i feel its at a perfect ride height
I installed a new quick ratio steering rack with new poly bushingsnew outer tie rods and great used steering wheel "old one was cracked "new front wheel bearings last yearfront end alignment was done when rack was changed
I installed a new gastank and a warlbro 190 pump. I also added a 3/8 stainless steel pickup tube and new sending unit. The lines off gas tank are flaired and fitted to braided lines correctly. The car has 3/8 stainless steel tubing going to the front with flaired fittings then braided line to motor ect done right with no leaks everhas aftermarket an threaded fuel filter with the correct fittings to the ford fuel rail.
It has new front pads and turned front rotors last summer with one new front caliper.I would consider tires to be fair to needing to be replaced soon. Ihave had them on it for 4 years bfgoodrich comp2.
The factory saleen wheels are in good shape. The lips polish up and have nice new centercaps a few years ago as well as the balancing weights on the inside.

The areas that could use improvement.

The car will creap up to warm on the factory gauge sitting in traffic downtown.i have never overheated it and no coolant loss. I am not sure the actualtemperatureit gets to as its not aissue in normal small town traffic and is just fine for my daily uses of it. The area it has issue for me is at ourmetro cruisewere its 30 plus minutes of sitting in traffic on a hot day.I suspect theunder drivepulleys are to blame or maybe the electric fan system. This never bothered me enough to change them out as it wasonlyissue once a year and i enjoy thecharacteristicsof not having the engine drag. The car vibrates at 70 mph and seems like drive shaft is out of balance. This started after the rear end gear install and the u joints were changes. I took the rear end all apartand reinstalled rear set with a new crush sleeve rechecked shim packs and set with indicator and checkedpatternof gears properly. I also checked the u joints and they felt smooth and not bound up. I assume its due to the 4.10 gears and the increased drive line rpms. Itnever changes in vibration amount or tone and never had any issues from it.The ebrake cables had to be cut as they locked up i have all the springs ect however it needs new cables.
For my uses and needs it is too much fun to drive to change fans and pull underdrive pulleys off as well as putting the 3.08 gears back in.
The car is a blast to drive with crisp shifting and i consider very fast revving. I constantly get complements on the tone of the car and is loud under hard throttle. Starts up right away amazingly. I had a best run at the drag strip at 13.76 at 101.2 mph on factory tire size and current tires.
I have many receipts to go with car.machine shopmotor worktrans gearsall the air conditioning partsalignment printoutscar fax from when i bought itdrag stip time slips as well as a lot of all the smaller ones from local parts stores
