Absolutely gorgeous 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible 'BEST OF THE BEST' impeccably finished in eye-catching Turquoise Blue with a White Soft Top and Matching Hardtop, over an equally beautiful two-tone Turquoise and White interior. 292ci/198hp 'Y-Block' V8 engine with a Ford-o-matic Transmission. The first run of Thunderbird's came from the factory with the desirable N-20 package, which included power everything and all the top-of-the-line convenience options. Notable options include an in-dash tachometer, clock, 150 mph speedometer, telescopic steering wheel, wide white wall tires, folding soft top and detachable hard top. This T-bird has undergone a comprehensive, Absolute Highest Quality frame-off restoration. This is a car of significance not only because of its outstanding condition (perhaps the finest example in North America) and extreme rarity but also due to it being documented by the Thunderbird Club as the longest one owner Thunderbird, as well as, the earliest produced car on the list. This car is ready to drive, show and enjoy for many years to come.Presented in classic Thunderbird Turquoise Blue over a two-color Turquoise and White interior, this 1955 Thunderbird is a stellar early production example of the rare and desirable First Generation classic American roadster, and was subject to a complete professional restoration, which was then masterfully finished in correct Ford Turquoise, and has limited sunny-day miles since.The restoration was undertaken with an eye to keeping this T-Bird as close to the way it rolled off the assembly line in early 1955 as possible. The body boasts correct panels gaps and fit, all of the brightwork has been refinished or re-plated, and the car even rides on wide white wall tires with correct factory wheel covers. The engine bay is also restored to new-stock condition, with an eye toward originality throughout. The interior is expertly restored to a very high level and presents extremely well, with finishings, gauges, knobs and controls all in outstanding condition. Features and details that are unique to the early '55 Thunderbird's include; Ford crest and crossed flag emblems, Flat 2-spoke steering wheel with clear plastic spokes and domed hub - the steering wheel is so neat, if you've never seen one please take a look at the photos. No front fender vents, No sun visors on production units, Chrome "doughnut" exhaust ring (early production cars only), Wedge-shaped heater knobs. No vent windows.Airman Wallace Kirkman, stationed at Lowery Air Force Base, purchased his brand-new sports car, this fine Thunderbird, from Skyland Motors. The original car invoice date was November 9, 1954. On December 13, 1954, Kirkman was transferred to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas until his discharge in 1961. Arizona Motor Vehicle Department records indicate the car has been registered from 1962 through the present in Arizona.This 1955 Thunderbird is a highest-quality and fully restored example that will be a great addition to any garage or collection.
