Description

  • 1990 Thunderbird SC 35th Anniversary, 5 speed
  • This is destined to be a collectable classic that will increase in value
  • V6 Supercharged with an Eaton Supercharger
  • Factory Moon Roof
  • 3.73 Ring and Pinion
  • Only 792 35th Anniversary 5 speed Super Coupes were made (according to Super Coupe Club of Iowa)
  • I do not know how many were black, but that of course makes it more rare.

I purchased this car from a service advisor at my local Ford dealer with the intentions of restoring the car to its former glory. However, circumstances arose where I will not be able to get to this for a while, and the difficult decision was made to pass it on to someone else that will appreciate this car and give it the attention it deserves.

The engine was rebuilt in 2015 (about 30k ago) with 0.30 over pistons, ARP head studs, and Fel-Pro Gaskets.

New catalytic converters and mufflers, resonators were deleted.

New sound deadening and carpet

Supercharger has been rebuilt, ported and has GTP coated rotors and a smaller pulley producing 14 psi of boost.

Aftermarket performance throttle body, and I have the original that will come with the car.

Aftermarket air filter, and I have the original air intake that will come with the car.

Solid body with no under carriage rust or damage, the car is 95 to 98% rust free with only small issues here and there as would be expected from a car from North Central Florida of this vintage.

Never involved in a reported accident with a clean vehicle history.

New Battery

Full tank of fresh 93 octane gas pumped into it this week.

2 sets of Original 35th Anniversary Keys and Fobs.

This would be an easy fix up for putting it back into service, or a quick and easy restoration.

The following is what I have noted as to what would need attention:

1. Body - It has been repainted many years ago and it was not a perfect job, so the paint is "breathing" and there are some bubbles here and there. I opened the moon roof, but now it will not close as it seems no power is getting to the motor. (The car can be made water tight for shipping purposes). The previous owner reported no issues, so this must be something simple. Someone backed into the rear of the left front fender/ front of door while the car was parked. I have a brand new fender that will come with the car.

2. Electrical - The a/c was working and blowing cold when I purchased it. The previous owner had wired a separate switch for the blower which I removed. I did not like how this was set up, and discovered that the control head on the dash was bad. I have two good used replacements that will come with the car. The fuel pump has had a hidden cut off switch installed. I was in the process of eliminating this when I ran out of time. The switch is still in the car, but is not mounted properly. The rear view mirror pad needs to be re-glued to install the rear view mirror.

3. Mechanical- It needs a clutch, it does not fully disengage and caution must be taken when shifting gears at this time. You have to ease it into each gear or risk grinding gears. It needs the spark plug wires replaced, I have a new set of NOS OEM originals that come with the car. Due to the fact that one ignition wire is bad, the check engine light has come on.

The car starts up and will drive fine. I drove it home after buying it and it handled great and had no unusually clunks or rattles. I babied the shifting to avoid grinding any gears and was amazed at how well the car handled. It makes good power, accelerates straight and true and does not pull or wander on the road. The brakes work perfectly and seem to be in serviceable condition.

The information I am providing is to the best of my knowledge, do not fault me if there are any problems I am not aware of. I have not driven the car besides taking it home and moving it around the yard. In person inspections are welcomed and encouraged. I will answer all questions honestly and with the best intentions of giving you the information you need.

4. Interior- Seats, dash and headliner need attention. Some other small imperfections you would expect from a car with this amount of use.
