Starting with a cornerstone American muscle car, the Ford Mustang, and then letting ASC/McLaren work their magic, results in this very capable, limited edition, two-seat roadster presented here. Muscle cars from the '80s have seen a rise in popularity over the past few years. Check out this sweet, low mileage, white on blue example, then drop the top and enjoy the ride.
The most obvious elements of this Special Edition Mustang, are the aero improvements made to the body. A ground effects package that includes a front spoiler, side skirts and a euro-style rear spoiler really make the car look great. Helping the car look super clean is its Oxford white paint in combination with white, BBS style wheels, which are manufactured in Italy by Motorsport Wheel company. The only badging on the outside of the car are very discreet, body color embossing on the front facia, and in the rear bumper, that identifies the car as an ASC/McLaren. There are large round fog lights set into the front spoiler, and special, ASC taillights. A special convertible roof was installed, and it looks good in dark blue when it is up. When you drop the top for open air driving, it tucks under a hard cover that looks super slick.
Slide into the interior, and settle into the ASC special leather seats. They are unique with the angled stitching in two-tone blue leather, and quite comfortable for sporty driving or long-distance traveling. You can rest your arm on an extended and expanded center console and glance over to the passenger side dashboard where the "Limited edition #263" plaque is located. The steering wheel is beefy and leather wrapped, with buttons for the cruise control at your fingertips. The dash is familiar Mustang fare, which is good as it is logically laid out with the gauges clearly visible, including the odometer which indicates the precious few, 38,406 miles this car has traveled. This car is now a true, bona fide two seat roadster in the European tradition, so you can use it as an excuse to escape without the kids for a date with your partner. In place of the rear seat is a nice flat shelf just perfect for a cooler or a dog with nice storage compartments underneath.
Under the hood you will find the proven, powerful, and reliable, Ford 5.0-liter motor. As expected, there is evidence that this car received proper routine maintenance which includes a new Interstate battery and the engine compartment is neat and clean. Engine power is sent back to the 10-bolt rear end through a 4 speed automatic transmission. Ford GT components for the suspension passed muster with the McLaren chassis wizards and include stiffer springs, heavy duty shocks, and beefy anti roll bars. Power steering and brakes provide the control expected, and stopping power required, of a sports car like this. A unique, but also a proven package that you can jump in and enjoy at will.
Check out this rare ASC/McLaren special. Then join others in the increasingly popular '80s muscle car movement, and just enjoy the ride.
