Description

The original Mustangs were a breath of fresh air from an American manufacturer. They were smaller, sporty, great looking, fun cars to drive. Maybe you have always wanted one, or possibly owned one and would like another, but you aren't looking for an over the top hot rod, or better than new "restoration" that costs big bucks. If that describes you, then this nicely restored 6-cylinder car at an affordable price may be just what you are looking for.
Poppy Red is a great color for these cars. It's fun and sporty. People smile when they see it, and you will smile when you are seen in it. This car was reconditioned with tender loving care, and there are restoration photos along with build receipts that show the process as it progressed. Of course, there is the iconic Mustang Pony emblem on the grill leading the way, with a shiny chrome bumper below it. That long hood looks great and the body lines that run down the side of the car to the rear fenders give it an extra sporty look. The back of the car has the original 3 element tail lights that are still a defining feature on Mustangs to this very day. Another running pony emblem on the gas cap, Mustang hub caps and white wall tires, and a chrome tipped exhaust pipe finish out the look of the car.
Open the door and you will be struck by the great look of chrome splashes on a black interior. The door panel has an outline that mimics the body lines on the side of the car. There is polished metal trim on the rocker and door jam, and a bright chrome seatback frame piece. Why hide it inside the seat? Put it on the outside and make it look good! Set yourself down in that seat and grab the black and chrome 3-spoke steering wheel. The speedometer and gauges are clearly visible under the deep dash cowl on the driver's side, and the passenger side has a nice sized glove box tucked in there. The radio needs a little attention to get it working, or maybe it presents an opportunity to install something more to your liking, and a floor mounted, T-handle shifter works the 3-speed automatic transmission. Finish the interior off with Mustang logo floor mats for a great looking and comfortable place to spend some time driving around having fun.
Pop the hood and you will find a neat and clean engine bay. A funny little feature you will find under this hood is the washer fluid "bag", not a hard-plastic reservoir like those used on most other cars. Sitting in the middle of all that space under the hood, you will find a 200-cubic inch 6-cylinder engine in there that was so good it was used well into the 80s. It is simple, reliable, fuel efficient, and even easy to work on if that is your inclination. An added benefit of this engine is that it is lighter than a V8, so it has a different feel to the handling. Less weight, along with the coil springs in the front and a solid axle, leaf spring rear, all make it feel more like little sports car than a muscle car. A new gas tank was installed as part of the restoration process, which is a nice way to assure a clean fuel supply on older cars.
Come on down and check out this fun and affordable classic. Then drive it home. Or to the beach, or just for fun.
