Description

In 1930, Ford came out with the Model 180-A, Deluxe Phaeton. The two-door phaeton was built to cater to those who wanted a light, sporty open car that could accommodate 4 to 5 passengers without having to put passengers in a rumble seat. Just under 8,000 of this body style was built in 1930 and 1931, the only years this body style was offered. Today, the stylish looks and the ability to have an open car that fits up to five people under a top, makes the two-door Deluxe Phaeton one of the most popular Ford body styles. The very limited production, and a survival rate that numbers just a few hundred makes it one of the most rare Model A body styles. This 1931 Model A, body style 180-A, Deluxe Phaeton is an older, very correct restoration painted in appropriate colors for this body style. It’s a great tour car that still shows very nicely, as evidenced by its inclusion in both the 2012 Geneva, IL Concours de Elegance, and the 2011 Barrington, IL Concours. In 2011, six new Goodyear tires were installed along with new tubes and metal stems on freshly sandblasted and painted wheels. A new LeBaron Bonney top was installed with correct back window glass. At the same time, new leather seat covers were put on rebuilt front seats and the interior was dyed so that everything matches. I have had the pleasure of owning and driving the car for eleven years. The car runs great and is a pleasure to drive. It is not a show car and the interior, apart from the front seats, is showing some age related cracking in door and side panels. There is a stain on the firewall from a one-time gasoline leak, which was fixed long ago. The car has been a great fit for me since I wanted a car that was not so perfect that I would be afraid to drive it. Please feel free to contact me and to ask any questions. I would also strongly recommend a personal inspection prior to purchase. Please note the following: 1.
