Description

**Relisting due to a non-paying bidder. Please DO NOT bid (or make offer) if you have no intentions of paying. Thank you.**
I have here an early year '77 Ford F250 (Highboy) with a flatbed. This truck turns heads and gets a thumbs up everywhere it goes. It has an 8" lift on Atlas springs w/poly bushings (over $2,000), and rides on 38x14.50 Toyo M/T's with about 80% tread left. The truck is 100% rust-free! with solid cab mounts and solid floor pans (one small patch on d/s floor pan).
The engine is a mostly stock (mild cam) 351 with aftermarket dual exhaust (sounds great!). Actual mileage is unknown (PO said 40K on a rebuild but I cannot verify that) but there are no external engine oil leaks, it does not use any oil, nor burn any oil, and does not smoke. Oil pressure is good (80psi cold/40psi hot) and compression is good on all 8 cylinders (less than 10psi between high/low cylinder). It starts every time with barely a touch of the key (new starter).
Both the NP435 4spd and NP205 T-case are tight with firm and smooth shifts, no weird noises or binding. All three driveshafts are also very tight, no sloppy U-joints or worn out slip yokes, everything in the driveline is snug without any excess play. Also has a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing ($600).
The front axle was completely gone through last year from hub to hub, over $400 spent. The Warn Premiums were serviced, wheel bearings replaced/repacked, axle/pinion seals replaced, along with new ring/pinion gear, and a front-end alignment (all tires have an even wear pattern). A new Borgeson steering shaft/U-joints were also recently installed ($230).
The front diff is open and the rear diff is Limited Slip, both have the factory 4.10 gearing. At 55mph with the 38'" tires and 4.10 gearing the engine turns approx. 2,000rpm so I really saw no reason to re-gear.
All the lights work, headlights, parking lights, brake lights, reverse lights, roof lights, turn signals, etc. All the gauges also work, oil, temp, volts, fuel (new fuel tank sending unit), with the one exception of the speedometer, it is broken. The interior needs door panels, I was going to cut out some aluminum diamond plate to match the dash but I just never got around to it.
The brakes work great though they could probably be bled again (just re-bled them and brakes stop on a dime). All fluids have been replaced and topped off, engine oil, front/rear diffs, transmission, T-case, coolant and brake fluid too, everything! New weather seals were also installed on the doors. Doors have zero sag at the hinges and shut nice and solid.
The steering ram does drip hydraulic fluid and will eventually need to be re-sealed (about $100) or replaced (about $300) but the truck steers great! and tracks straight and true! better than most lifted trucks I have ever driven. There is no "death wobble" a lot of big tired lifted trucks experience, the front-end is very tight and does not "shimmy and shake" at speed.
Do not expect great mileage with this beast! The best I have ever gotten is 10mpg, the worst is 6mpg, so I would say the average is 8mpg. This is not a practical truck as a daily driver (depending on how far you drive to work/school) but it is a helluva lotta fun to drive!
The truck has never been abused or even used "off-road", other than County dirt roads, it's been used mostly as a pavement pounder all its life and the condition of the chassis bears that out.
I have tried to give you both the good and bad about the truck, if you have any questions just ask, if you need to see more detailed pics just ask. I have nothing to hide with this truck and I am in no hurry to sell it, so I will not give the truck away! Buyer must arrange for transport but I will assist the transport driver with vehicle pick up.
No money orders or cashiers checks! Sorry. Payment must be made via secure bank to bank wire transfer or cash in person. Truck has a clean and clear Montana title. Thank you for looking.
