Description
Just a heads up. I am really torn about selling this car. I have another gasser on Ebay that I would like to sell much more than this one, but one of them has to go to make room for another car coming in. If the Pontiac sells first, I may cancel this listing.
I want to start off by asking you to please call forhonest answers BEFORE you bid. Or better yet, come by and look at the vehicle or have someone inspect it for you. I do the best I can describing my vehicles and I include very good pictures that can be expanded. I do this to try and avoid any misunderstandings. It is impossible to list every little item on a vehicle that may or may not beimportant to a buyer. Thanks.
Also, please read thepayment section carefully. Iwill not vary off of what isexplained there. Cashiers checks may have hold put on them by my bank. My bank will give me a letter of how long the hold will be. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. The length of hold depends on the bank that it is sent from. Some smaller banks cantake up to 10 business days. The car will not leave here until my banksays the check has cleared. No exceptions. That is why I like wire transfers and cash.
This is a super cool Ford Anglia ex show car, drag car, gasser. This is an original build that started it's race life in 1967. It was raced in and around Lawton Oklahoma. I have the name andcontact info for the original builder / racer and the contact info the second owner to verify the following. I also have vintage pictures of it stock and when it was agasser back then with the crazy cool paint job. It was bought out of a junk yard for $100.00 in 1967. Went through a 2 year build process. It was raced between 1970 and 1980 before it was retired. It ran aHilbornFuel injected 301 cu in Chevy with a 4speed trans and a 5:13 Pontiac Rear end. It ran in the 9.7 second range. Truly a "Gasser Wars" survivor and a veryfast one at that. In those days, a 10 second car with operational doors was considered very fast so this one must have wonmany races. The original owner has time tickets, more pictures, and aposterfrom when it was raced.
He sold it in 1985 to the second owner that took out the roll bar, added a complete interior, lights, etc. to make it into a street legal car.He has the bill of sale from that 1985 transaction. Some time after that, it ended up on display for around 20years in the Eldorado Hot Rod Cafe in Eldorado KS along withmany other vintage hot rods and race cars. The owner passed away recently and all of the cars were sold off. I will give thecontact info for the first 2 owners to the new owner and I can guarantee that theprevious owners are real, alive, andwilling to share their great stories.
The car was in the background on Amercian Pickersepisode done on March 25, 2011. Mike and Donna at the Eldorado Hot Rod cafe. It shows up at 2:18 minutes into the 2:52 minute show.Just the top is visible, but the paint job proves it. I tried toattach the link to the you tube video buteBay blocked it. Body: Original steel Anglia body that has always been rust free and is very straight. I see no signs of metal repair or replacement. The front end, rear fenders, and trunk lid, are fiberglass from A-1 Fiberglass Company. An old fiberglass race car parts reproductioncompany that has been out of business a long time now. The paint is way over the top cool. Done in lacquer.Ribbons, spiderwebs, and clearwith micro metal flake over the whole thing. I have the name and contact info for the painter. He is still painting custom cars and has a great history of work he has done on cars for George Barris and others like him. All of the glass safety glass and is tinted. Door glass rolls up and down.Doors close very good. Top was filled in the old school way. Tiltfront end isdone very well.
Driveline: 350 small block Chevy with a solidlifter cam and 350 Chevy turbo transmission. Very peppy car that will spin those big rear slicks. Early Pontaic / Olds narrowed rear end with positraction and drum brakes. Note: There are no front brakes on this car. Theydid not use them inthere early days. Don't know the gear rear end ratio, but fromdriving it I'd say it is around 3:73's to 4:11's. Custom built very long tube headers with mufflers. Not too loud. Sounds and runs great. This carstops fine, but I would put front disc brakes on it for safety reasons. Included in the auction is a brand newdisc brake set-up from Speedway Motors. Still in the boxes. Note the vintage World War ll plane fuel filter and vintage electric fuel pump mounted on the frame rail in front of the drivers side front wheel.
Chassis: An original Anglia frame with modifications. Very long custom made ladder bars with chrome coil over shocks. ( originally it ran custom made 1/2 transverse springs and the mounts are still there ) Custom made chrome wheelie bars. Frontend is a custom made straight axle with Chevy 1947 - 1959 truck spindles. All 4 wheels have the Chevy 4 3/4" bolt pattern. Single buggy style front spring with shocks. Various parts of the front suspension is chromed also. Vintage ET rear wheels with newreproduction Firestonepie crust slicks.Reproduction ET spoked front wheels and new tires. VintageCorvairsteering box.
Interior: The interior is super nice and of a high quality material. Seats are from an early 80's Porsche 944. It has a full headliner and a back seat for very short personsonly. The in thedash speedometer and tach do not work. The column mounted tach works. Theother gauges are good including the gas gauge. Someone added the radio. Not sure how to work it. I am a big guy at 6' tall and around 230 lbs. I fit great in this car and it is very comfortable to drive. Of course the seats are mounted pretty far back.
Car has a clean Missouri title in my name and is titled as a 1948 Ford.
This car starts right upand drives out fine. It is super cool and gets a lot of attention since it is a true survivor from the gasserwar error and not a clone.
Own a real piece of history with this one.
I know I am forgetting something here, so call forquestions and more details.I have a clear Missouri title that is in my name and it matches the VIN tag.
I will not give out my reserve price. Please do not ask.
NO TRADES, PLEASE DO ASK ASK.
You can make a reasonable offer if you wish, but I will not end the listing once the auction hits thereasonable reserve price.
Now for the business end. I encourage you, or someone you trust or hire, to come by and check out the vehicle in person. I will refund your deposit if the vehicle does not match the abovedescription. The vehicle does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. Bank and cashiers checks can take up to 10 business days. My bank will give me a letter stating the date when the check will clear. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. Bank transfers can take up to 2 days depending on what time of the day it is initiated on your end. Again, my bank will let me know when it clears. Cash is great if picking it up in person.Call me at 314-732-592five to get honest answers to all of your questions BEFORE YOU BID. Thanks, Dave

For you new members, please don't bid unless you know and accept how ebay works and understand that you are legally committing to purchase if you bid. Not following through with a purchase after winning an auction for a new member can result in ebay canceling your membership.
