As I am sure you can imaginethey are getting EXTREMELYhard to find, especially in this kind of GORGEOUS - RESTORED condition !! We have been asked to sell this Skyliner Retractable for a local older Boise, Idaho couple and as you can clearly see in the pictures this is their pride and joy for sure!! They have owned this car for the last 9+ years. The guy they bought the car from was the one who had it restored and had owned it for 28+ years before they bought it. It recently won the "People's Choice" award at the local Fathers Day car show right here in Boise, which is the second or third largest show in this area !! The 1958 Ford Fairlane 500Skyliner was a stunning body style in 1958 with its power retractable - "Hide-Away" -hardtopand still is some 58 years later!! The retractable hardtop operation was a mechanical symphony orchestrated by 4 lock motors, 4 lift jacks, 10 relays, 3 drive motors, 10 limit switches, 8 circuit breakers and an extra 610 feet of wiring !! I say VERY RARE as there were only 14,713 Fairlane 500 Skyliner's produced in 1958 and they were only made for three years, so as you can imagine they don't come up for sale very often anymore !! Ford only built Retractable hardtop models for 3 years, and this is the FIRST year the 352 CID "Interceptor V8" motor was offered as an option in the Fairlane and they tell me it's the one to have !! This Ford Retractable also still retains it's - FACTORY ORIGINAL - correctly mounted driver's door pillar mounted Ford data plate and it's - ORIGINAL - 1958 Ford owner's manual, both of which are shown in pictures below. What a value it is at the reserve price which is set very low ! This car is a NICE - DRY - SOLID - Idaho high mountain desert - western vehicle and boy doesit show !! I drove this car for several days as my everday driver to and from the office and running errands as needed and it ran and drove GREAT !! It has good, smooth power in town and it drove effortlessly on the freeway at 80+ miles per hour !!
