Description
Model A Ford Rat RodYou are looking at one of the most aggressive eye catching rat rods on the market today. This beast started out as a 1930-31 Ford model A sedan that had been left for dead over the years. Please read the entire description as well as viewing the pictures and videos. If you still have questions afterwards, please feel free to ask. I welcome any in person viewings and would encourage you to ask for any specific picture requests you may have. I am attaching photos of the build process as well as the finished product within this listing. I will also attach videos, both driving and walk-around. The most recent shots are the ones with the door badges on painted on the sides.
Body- The body was resurrected, patched up, and squared up. It has a 7" chop on the top, all new hand formed patch panels that reconstructed the dilapidated body. Structural subfloor to ensure the body isn't twisting and flexing as you're cruising down the street. Nice floor pans and bomber seats with diamond pleats bead rolled directly into the steel. Suicide doors with Bear Claw style door latches to ensure the doors aren't going to swing open on you.
Chassis- This hot rod has a fresh built box steel frame under it. All the joints in the frame have been plated and gusseted. It has one of the toughest built frames you will see on a hot rod, so you know you won't have any issues with twisting with this one. The suspension is leaf springs front and back, so it is fairly easy if you decide to alter the ride height. It is also a pretty easy change if you decide to take leafs out to soften the ride or lower it. It has a 35 ford straight axle in the front with gm disc brakes. The steering is setup as traditional cowl steer using a reversed manual Toyota truck gear box. The current owner of this ride has cruised it down the highway around 80mph with no sign of death wobble or bumpsteer. It tracks straight down the road. The rearend is out of a 93 Buick Roadmaster, so it has a nice highway gear and oversized rear drums to help bring it to a stop.
Engine/Trans- The drivetrain powering this hot rod is a small block chevy 350/350 setup. The engine is a 350 4 bolt main that has been bored 30 over. Everything is fresh inside it. Hypereutectic flat top pistons. Gear drive timing set. Ported and polished heads with screw in studs and guide plates. Roller tip rocker arms. High volume oil pump. RARE Offenhauser 3 deuce intake with o.e. Ford 2 barrel carbs that have been professionally gone through completely rebuilt and rejetted to run great with this engine. Jegs 3500 rpm stall converter. Transmission is a good strong shifting 350 turbo. New Lokar shifter. Lokar Dipstick.
Tires/Wheels- The wheels are 1935 Ford spoke wheels with brand new reproduction caps. The tires are fresh Firestone bias tube type tires that were bought new from coker when this car was built.
Electrical/Plumbing- The fuse block, master cylinder, steering box, and battery are all nicely tucked away under the cowl. The top of the cowl is secured using the original gas cap that has been fitted with a bolt on the underside that threads into a mount in the body. It's as easy as turning the cap a few times to remove the cowl top and have easy access to all of the hidden features of this rod. This car has 4 corner turn signals, 59 caddy brake/tail lights, license plate light, and late 20's Chevy headlights that have been fitted with H4 halogen bulbs and internal turn signals, High beams and Low beams. Electric Fan on a brass radiator that does a good job keeping the engine/trans cool even cruising in town. In the back there is a 15 gallon fuel cell with a working gauge and sender so you won't unknowingly run out of gas or be stopping at every station you pass. For fuel delivery to the 3 carbs we have a new performance electric fuel pump back by the fuel cell with easy access through a floor panel in case you were to have to do some maintenance at any point.
Overall- This Rat Rod is an eye catching work of art that would be a great addition to someone's collection or an amazing advertisement piece for your business. It gets tons of attention wherever it goes and has been driven about 200+ miles since it was completed. It tracks straight and will lay some rubber at the drop of a hat. Everyone will hear you coming and rush to see it when you pull up.
I reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is sold AS IS WHERE IS no warranties or guarantees. It has a clear title (titled as a 1929 Ford sedan). It is turn key ready to go. I am willing to meet potential buyers as well as shipping companies should you choose to go that route.
